BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) -- Ron Artest and James Jones scored 16 points each Saturday night, and the Indiana Pacers held on for a 106-104 preseason win over the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Trailing 103-95 with 2:09 remaining, Minnesota chipped away behind rookie Blake Stepp, who scored eight of his 10 points in the last 90 seconds.

Stepp's jumper with 18 seconds left cut the Pacers' lead to two. After Desmon Farmer missed two free throws with 13.8 seconds to play, the Timberwolves had a chance to win it, but Stepp misfired on a long jumper.

The Pacers improved to 4-0 in the preseason and have beaten the Timberwolves (3-3) twice.

Stephen Jackson sparked the Pacers early in the fourth quarter, scoring eight of his 11 points in the first four minutes.

Wally Szczerbiak led Minnesota with 25 points and eight rebounds. He went 10-for-10 from the free throw line. Anthony Goldwire and Fred Hoiberg scored 13 points apiece for the Timberwolves.

The game, played at the Bismarck Civic Center, drew a crowd of 9,010.
