Last night there was an enormous thunder/lightning strike and our power went out. Since it came back on, one of our computers doesn't work. It turns on, but it doesn't operate. When it originally comes on, the CPU usage is at 100 percent for like 20 seconds, and then it goes to normal but you can't do anything on the computer.

And yes, it was plugged into a surge protector.

Fixed. Thank you Bill Gates for the System Restore feature. I had to restart in safe mode, run the maintenance applications and then restore it to Friday at 7:30. Now it works perfectly again.

Was it on when the surge hit? If so, you might want to look into an uninterruptable power supply -- it can safely save and shut everything down after an outage even if you aren't there.
