Many people here questioned this "outrageous" claim by EL COMANDANTE.
But they were blind by the red,white and blue and did not see that the USA team NEVER had a chance. I mean they NEVER even had a decent game the whole tourney.
Team Nike has fallen, not only fallen but schooled, to a better rival, plain and simple.
What would be newsworthy to me is if someone named chequevara picked the USA to win.

It's not like USA feels en led to win the FIBA WCs. They have only won it twice (1986 and 1994) since 1970. Whether with Pro or Amateur players, the FIBA games/rules are different enough to keep the Americans a bit out of their element.
