I don't think I've ever heard of 3 seconds being called in a pickup game.
Question, in a pickup game is it ok to call 3 in the key? Now I hate calling ticky tack crap in a 3v3 or 4v4 pickup game, but when me and my homeboys play some latenite bball, there is always this cat who just camps out in the lane. I mean, whenever his team has the ball, he sets up a tent, builds a campfire, and roasts marshmellows in the key. Is it ok to call that? Ya know, once or twice is no big deal. But everytime his team has the ball, he is in the lane. He doesnt really move, and just gets garbage baskets, either off of offensive boards or passes from teammates that are actually moving around and playing offense.
Now I know, its pretty foolish to be worried about a pickup game that means diddley squat, but still, there has to be a point where you call it. Right??

I know. Me niether. But this fool is outa hand.![]()
Its kinda like those ers who travel or carry EVERY DAMN time, but you can't call it every damn time because its what they do. You just gotta deal I guess.
if he camps, then why dont you camp also, or jump over his back when he goes up for scrub points and block the hsit out of him.....they are just a sitting duck waitin to get block, trust me. thats how i play, they think they are open for easy basket cose no one is on them, and then you jump from behind and block the out of them and look down on them, give them that d up ugly look of yours, and tell him pwned!
You might trying having whoever's guarding him say something like "dude, you can't stand in the lane that long". But, like Manny said, you'll probably just have to deal.
Don't even play D, just constantly box him out. That'll drive him nuts. Fight for position.
Getting boxed out in a pickup game is the most frustrating thing that can happen to you, so yes, I agree with Manny here.
You can't call three seconds in a pickup game. I had some dip try to call that crap during a three-on-three tournament (there wasn't even a lane marked on the blacktop). Just play your game and find a way to get him out of the paint.
How big is he? Start elbowing the out him whenever you're down there with him. He gets the message after a while.
You could call that...but its usually a good way to get your ass kicked.
Sure call it. Then call illegal defense. Five second inbound. Moving screens. etc.
No, you can't call it in pickup - I agree with the boxing out. Get down there and push him around. People don't like being bumped in pickup games.
I hate it when ers hug you long enough to for the dribbler to get around you and get near the goal. That's why I've just resorted to Truck Sticking bas s Madden style.![]()
what kind of idiot calls 3 in the key in a pickup game?
Word of advise dont call unless you are near home.
But seriously I only call a foul or a travel if it is really obvious. But you always have to call your own even if it is obvious. I hate people that just stop playing on a hard foul, you still have to call it.
Box him out and also just have whoever is guarding him start leaning on him all the time, but only when he's camping.
He'll get the message.
where I play we barely even call fouls.
When I played regularly, where we played it was the same way. Like butta said, unless it was blatantly obvious, we rarely called anything, but you did have to call it. I hate it, like Brent, when people just stop and assume its a foul, or when someone else other than the player hit, calls the foul. If you can't or won't call a foul if you get hit, then no one should do it for you.where I play we barely even call fouls.
this thread is funny, i hadnt read it. i almost fought some guy the other day because the bas would have the ugliest moving screens ever.. im talking about this guy would set a pick and then move with you for like 10 secounds until you lost your man... i was so sick of the ... i told him like 10 times yo u cant be doing that ... he was a little guy too, im like 6'2 225 pounds and this kid was like 5'6 and 150 pounds at most.. i told him look homie stop doing that but he though it was funny. so in the words of a fellow poster i trucked sticked his ass... not madden 07 style.. madden 05. when they had the ed up ass truck stick moves the kid was on the floor like 20 seconds.. just looking at my like why would you do that... lol ing pricks. someone needs to teach people that most of the rules for basketball are there for a reason, whether you can call it or not . also its true that if your playing far from home you shouldnt try any funny calls...

lol one of my cousins is like this... its like second nature to the bas s we just dont say anymore... because we use to call it and he just argued about he didnt do it. blah
so in the words of a fellow poster i trucked sticked his ass...![]()
The rules are there for a reason, but according to some unwritten rule in street ball, you dont call traveling (unless really obvious), 3 in the key, 5 second inbounds, or weak fouls. Moving screen is a tough one. just like when I play, Im a person who runs all over the court w/o the ball through screens and such, so ususally the person who defends me gets frustrated or tired of running around and grabs me or pulls my shirt. I dont care who it is I always knock there hands off of me. And if it gets worse I just start pushing off.
One last thing is always respect the call. Unless the guy has been calling 100 fouls, just respect the call and dont argue it. There are no refs or review table to look at the play. In other words just play the game.
Damn I would love to play bball.
But ohh - it won't be easy to box him out while he is roasting marshmellows on his camp.
Play your man D. Do not let them pass to him. I know it is easy to talk... but well when they have the ball and somebody is covaring hat man from the ball side they realy do not have many options when you play good D on the other guys. They do not have room for penetrations. Do they?
IS he so good or he is just fat and can't run?
