poor vick
I was watching some of this pregame stuff here on SC, and all anyone is talking about is the Hurricane Katrina side story. I haven't even heard one person analyzing the matchups in the game.
Atlanta has to be the team to come into a wrecked society and attempt to further tear the people apart by beating their team at home. Football's equivalent to the devil's advocate. That's gotta be harsh. Very well may be the thing that helps NO over the hump in this game. Sort of like the game UT lost to aTm after the bonfire accident killed several people.
I somehow doubt the Saints getting beat tonight will tear the residents of New Orleans apart.
I really don't think that the Katrina aspect will affect ATL at all, except for the fact that they probably won't be talking smack to the crowd like all away teams do. Other than that, I'm certain they'll be ready to keep the top spot in NFC South
Man, the Saints are going to be pumped. Watch for them to come out big early. I think NO wins big and I think Joe Horn has a huge game.
Fall asleep? Man, I can feel the emotion in that building HERE, you don't think they can feel it there?
Yeah I was just kidding. The beginning of the Green Day playlist was a liiiiiiiiittle bit soft, but yeah, it kicked in pretty badass with U2. I felt the emotion also. Hopefully the emotion translates well for the SAINTS on the field, cuz they gave the dirty birds in the DOME here in SA last year.
That was a bit of an exaggeration commonly used by sports broadcasters to create a stronger emotional feel for the game. If you want to be literal then ATL is in the unenvious position of having to go out and beat a team with a loyal fanbase that has been emotionally distraught over losing their homes and way of life a little over a year ago. The fans of the Saints are emotionally pumped to have Saints football being played in NO again, and ATL has to try to disappoint those fans by beating the Saints in their return.
Better??
Fu**in right man! Now they need another Falcon's 3 & out.
Can somebody please kill Joe Theismann?
I swear to God, he could make somebody depressed about having a healthy baby.
I was just about to type what Theismann just said. That they don't need to get too hyped.
Happy to accommodate
So much for ATL withstanding the early emotion. They look like the Texans out there!!
That was dumb, too, but I meant about it being a slap in the face to the Falcons.

NO 7 - ATL 0 - 1 - 11:08
Ashley Lelie gets free down the right sidelines and he reels in a perfect throw from Vick for a 47-yard reception. DB Mike McKenzie had decent coverage, but the Falcons get together for the big play.

Michael Vick throws a dart to Michael Jenkins, as he looks to the former Ohio State receiver for the second time tonight. This time, they connect for the first down at the ATL 40 to quiet the crowd a bit.
NO 7 - ATL 0 - 1 - 13:30
Koenen is back for the punt and he has it blocked. S Steve Gleason gets in virtually unblocked and he does a great job. CB Curtis Deloatch scoops it up for the touchdown, his first in the NFL. The Superdome is going crazy, as the Saints take the early lead.
ATL 0 - NO 0 - 1 - 13:56
LB Scott Fujita, who has been a big-time pickup for the Saints during the early going, jars the ball free from a scrambling Michael Vick, but the ball scoots out of bounds. Former kicker Michael Koenen will go back for a punt.
ATL 0 - NO 0 - 1 - 14:03
Michael Vick's first throw of the evening is incomplete, as he throws behind WR Michael Jenkins. The crowd tries to fire up the defense for this 3rd and 4 play.
ATL 0 - NO 0 - 1 - 14:48
RB Warrick Dunn gets the first touch of the game and he rolls for a six-yard gain. The Saints will have to put the clamps on him tonight if they hope to improve their record to 3-0.
ATL 0 - NO 0 - 1 - 14:55
The Falcons get the ball back first and we are underway from New Orleans. QB Michael Vick takes the reins of the offense here in a raucous Louisiana Superdome.
ATL @ NO - Pregame
So New Orleans, it has been a long and tough road. But your Saints are back and so are you. To steal a line from Hank Williams, Jr. - 'Are you ready for some football, Nola?'
ATL @ NO - Pregame
Fast forward to Monday, Sept. 25, 2006, and it is time for celebration. One of the most recognizable features of the Crescent City, the NFL's New Orleans Saints, return to the Louisiana Superdome for a battle against the Atlanta Falcons.
ATL @ NO - Pregame
Welcome back to New Orleans everyone. On the morning of Aug. 29, 2005, the Gulf Coast of Alabama, Louisiana and Mississippi changed forever, as Hurricane Katrina made its devastating landfall. At first, it appeared New Orleans fared better than expected. As we found out, this was not the case.
The receivers are going to have to run with their bodies on top of their legs.
