I don't know which island she's on, but my friend Khalida sent me a text message that she's okay, just without power.

M, I forget, are you originally from Hawaii or was it just for school?

I was there for thirteen years. I don't have any family there, but a lot of good friends. I didn't even know about this til a few minutes ago. I've left some voice mails for some people - I'm sure they're okay.

Seems to be power issues only. No real damage.

My company has two locations in Hawaii and, thankfully, all employees are accounted for and unharmed. We do have two people at the airport trying to fly out and are unable to do so because the airport is closed.

My husband is from Hawaii. He's been emailing and calling all his family and friends since last night. I don't think he's heard back from anyone yet. His sister is on the big island and his cousin is in Oahu. According to everything I've seen there were landslides and mudslides and some major damage to buildings in certain areas but luckily nobody was hurt or died.
