this makes a great way to backup your harddrive if you need to format it
and you can not get the computer to boot up in safe mode or normal mode
Thanks, I may have to get that. I've worked on a couple laptops lately and used the USB to IDE device and it didn't seem to work well.

Well it's just a passive connector adapter. But I agree with you that if the practical value was the only criteria it should easily cost a few hundred bucks.![]()
