Orlando and Utah.
Just curious what team people think will surprise this year? I dont really count the Bulls since that is not surprise, as they are built to succeed.
Hornets
Chandler/West/Peja/Mason/Paul ..........
I agree. Howard is a beast.
Bulls are going no where this season. That team has become so overrated now that Ben is there. I think they will be a little over .500 this year and have a first round exit.
As for teams that will surprise, I will have to go with Orlando. Look for Darko to do some big things there.
Orlando, Houston, Hornets, and Lakers.
(hopefully Sixers too)
Atlanta. SpursTalk is gonna be overloaded with Hawks fans if this happens. I think they can.
So you dont think some team chemistry and a good Center pushes them into the playoffs? Is the east really that stacked that they wont make it this year?
I vote for the Raptors to surprise. Bosh plus the new help, I think they're onto something.
I agree about Orlando.
orlando finished last season hot, would anyone consider them a real suprise if they just continued that play?
Golden State finished 2 seasons ago red hot. I said they would be in the playoffs this past year and got burned. Orlando should be an average team in the playoffs at 7/8 seed.
New Orleans and Atlanta should be a surprise.
The Hawks have fans?
The Raps had turnover in the right places. They need to improve on D, but they've got good pieces in good places.
I'm not sold on Golden State. They're a trendy pick every year, but B-Davis is inconsistent, except when it come to injury, half of thier team is overpaid underacheivers (Dunleavy, Foyle, Murphy), and the other half are young, inexperienced underachievers (Pietrus, Biedrins, Diogu). The only thing GS has going for them is Jason Richardson. Nelly is a gimmick coach that is going to play to the strengths of his team, but he won't necessarily improve his players.
I like Orlando, but I will be careful to think too highly of them. They're still young, and I'm not sure they have the depth to withstand injury.
New Orleans is a definite. They got proven players who do proven things (BJ and Peja score, Chandler defends). With Paul leading a deeper group, I think they'll be really good.
The Hawks have talented and athletic players...just imagine if they had someone to get the ball to those players. As is, they play too much selfish, one-on-one ball offensively. They have zero post game on O or D because their entire team is skinny 6'9 swingmen. Until they get a legit assist man (and speedy aint it) and a legit NBA post player (Shelden Williams was big for college, not as a pro) they won't be a "breakout" team.
And what I said about the Raptors making all the right moves, even off the court....the Hawks need to take a lesson and learn. Once ownership gets settled, they need to fire Billy Knight and probably Mike Woodson.
like some have said before: raptors (solid foundation and decent mix of youthful exuberence and veteran leadership)
orlando (really found their groove late last season by upsetting some major compe ion and it wasn't like those teams had nothing to play for... the Spurs lost to them while they were still fighting the Mavs for 1st place.)
