Do you guys think this is represents a huge turnout or simply people getting out to vote earlier because of how immersed in this election we are?

    Early voting breaks records

Washington, DC, Oct. 29 (UPI) -- Early voting is breaking all previous records with 14 percent of registered voters saying they have already voted, according to a recent survey.

The findings were made in the University of Pennsylvania's National Annenberg Election Survey conducted through Wednesday.

This is above the 11 percent that said they had already voted at the same point in 2000 and the 13 percent who indicated in the 2000 Annenberg post-election survey that they did before election day.

In terms of candidates, 15 percent of Kerry supporters in the survey indicated they had already voted this year with 13 percent saying they intended to still cast a ballot before Election Day.

Over 14 percent of self-declared Bush supporters reported already casting ballots, while 9 percent of Bush supports said they would before Nov. 2.

Among independents, 13 percent reported already voting and 12 percent plan to cast early ballots.

I stood in line for 1:15 on Friday afternoon at the Great NW library and talked to a number of people who felt compelled to vote by this election.

Either to vote Bush out or to keep Kerry from winning. I think we're going to have a record turnout tomorrow and overall. Didn't Bexar County eclipse the previous early voting record by over 50,000?

I stood in line for 15 minutes in Richardson on Friday morning.

I think for most people it's a convenience thing. Early voting (like all voting) seems to be more highly publicized this year, so more people are aware that it's available to them.

yeah, in the top 15 counties in TX, 30 percent of registered votes have alread voted. If we get even that percentage out voting tomorrow, we'll be very close to record turnouts overall.

If we hit 70% as a country, I will be very happy regardless of the winner. It's about time the people of this country showed a bit less apathy.
