An official announcement on the exact length of the four players' bans could come as early as Sunday.

However, Ben Maller and Chris Landry of Fox Sports Radio have learned from Pistons play-by-play man Fred McLeod that the NBA plans to suspend Ron Artest for 30 games.

Additionally, Jermaine O'Neal and Stephen Jackson will both get 20-game suspensions. Ben Wallace, on the other hand, will miss just five games.

    ------------------------------------
This is according to one report so far .....

This will be the preliminary number, I'm thinking. The players' association will get involved for sure, and the actual number of games will decrease to (my guess) half of that number for each of them.

Ron Artest should get a 200 game suspension,
Jermaine O'neal should get a 199 game suspension,
SjAX shoud get a 198 game suspension, and
Ben Wallace should get a 2 game suspension!! IMO

Carlisle said today that they were accepting whatever the league decided.

Those are serious numbers for the players who went into the stands.

What about all the players that left the bench?

Not enough for Artest, Oneal, Or Jackson.

NBA, why arent these clowns suspended for the rest of the year.

IMO, this was just as bad as Sprewell choking Carleisimo.

I've got to agree with Park on this one. At least they didn't lowball it to Mad Max range. I'd have been pissed if that turned out to be the case.

Well, scratch that, I'm already pissed that Artest might have screwed me in the fantasy league.

That's not enough. The guys who went into the stands should be sent a message, loud and clear. And the message should be strong enough to where anyone won't think about doing it again.

Jax was just as guilty as Artest was, he should serve the same length.

The only way this suspension has any teeth is if:

    1. the suspensions are without pay
    2. Artest is not allowed to promote his rap album
    3. The Pacers' suspensions must be served concurrently (none of this staggered bull )

spurster - leaving the bench earns you an automatic one game suspension. They'll stagger the suspensions so that each team has enough to play.

Time to go find some fantasy team replacements.

    What really angers me.

Is this, in a roundabout way, is biting the NBA int he ass.

    WHy?

They have promoted guys like Artest, Iverson, Wallace.

Punks, that without there talent would be society trash.

    PROMOTED THEM.

People DEFEND THEM!!! I went to see Indiana New York last week, and you wouldve thought Ron Artest was a GOD.

He got a standing o when he came out of the game for the first time.

The fans, the NBA, and ownership, needs to WAKE UP as to what kind of players they want to promote.

    How about

Grant Hill. Tim Duncan. Ray Allen. Dwight Howard.

    GOOD GUYS!!!

Theres not very many left in the NBA, but how about showing highlight reels showing the good guys, and promoting them instead of the Artests, the Iversons, the ahole players.

    But I doubt they will.

"The Bad Boys" Was the beginning, and it aint changin.

AHF - NBA suspensions are ALWAYS without pay. It's the only teeth the NBA has with players. The limits on cash fines make them a joke to todays millionaires.

Your number 2 point has nothing to do with the NBA so this is really wishful thinking by a disgruntled fan. Also, how would you punish the fans involved. A lifetime ban from the pistons games??

They're not done with the "sentences", they haven't even made an official announcement yet. There will be more to come.

I know they're already investigating the one guy who threw the cup. Its going to take weeks to identify all the people who threw stuff at the players.

I dont understand what is supposed to be done to "the fans".

What every person that attended Piston's games this year wont be allowed back??

You want to break out some punishment on season ticket holders that bust out 10 gs for a season of tickets??

    Expect lawsuits.

Besides, I dont think this was done by the "Normal" Piston fan.

These were a few drunk rednecks from the 8 mile that won tickets on the radio and decided to "have some fun"

I saw the people dumping drinks and throwing stuff at the players, they did not look drunk to me, especially the guy who had perfect aim when he threw the cup at Artest. They need to ban the people who threw anything for the season. Plain and simple.

5 games for Wallace is a joke. It's not Big Ben's fault that Artest, Jack, and Babyface are ing re s.

A shove to the neck and a thrown towel should get him 2 games max. As for Artest, Jack, and ONeal I can't really say since there's not a lot of precedent for this. All three of them had equally disgusting moments: Jack's haymaker to the guy who threw the 2nd beer on Artest, Artest's palming that dudes face and throwing him to the ground, and O'Neal sucker-punch on fatty. All three of them should get the same punishment IMO.

I would prefer to see the Pistons fans punished the most severly for this incident. Ban the entire fan base from home games for the next 5 games or so. A message has to be sent that it's not open season on the players for fans, across the league.

Hey Guys this is my first post and am glad to be here, first of all I think Artest, Jackson, and O'neal should get 1 yr suspensions with no pay. Also I think Big Ben should get at least 5 games, makes you glad the loose cannon Jackson is no longer with us.

I really dont think that they can suspend artest so harshly until they find the fan who started the whole incident. Also, think about how each and every one of you felt when dave got a concussion from karl.... Or the game where dave and sam (jones?) got into a fight and garnett tried to talk to dave who grabbed his FACE and pushed him down, and duncan stepped in to protecd dave

I agree with 99% of that.

Before yesterday i wouldve said I wished S Jax was back.

Now today?/ I gotta say, I dont think Id want him back.
