This is just weird to me, if Posey's just getting deactivated because he's 9% body fat not 8%. So what happens if he gets to 8.9 but then a few days later he's 9.1? Deactivated again?
I don't buy this weirdness.
Heat Deactivate Walker and Posey
Associated Press
MIAMI -- Heat forwards Antoine Walker and James Posey were deactivated for the team's game Wednesday night against the Los Angeles Clippers because they didn't meet a team conditioning goal.
Heat coach Pat Riley, who also announced Wednesday that he was taking a medical leave of absence, said Walker and Posey may be back as soon as Friday in Phoenix -- but could face suspension by Jan. 15 if the undisclosed goal is not met.
"There's been an ongoing conditioning goal that our team has had to make since the summer. ... January was the deadline, they haven't made it, and they knew this was going to happen if they didn't make it," Riley said. "By the way, both of them are in the best condition of their lives. They're very close. But a deadline is a deadline."
Neither player will travel with the Heat to Phoenix on Thursday, instead staying behind to work with team strength and conditioning coach Bill Foran. Miami opens a six-game Western road trip against the Suns on Friday, and it's possible both could join the team sometime during the swing.
Walker declined comment before Wednesday's game, which the Heat lost 110-95.
Posey said his deactivation stemmed from a rule the Heat has about body fat. He said his body fat is 9 percent, but Riley wanted it to be 8 percent.
"He wants the weight to be down and he has his standards, I guess, for the bigs and the perimeters or whatever," Posey said. "It's the weight and for the perimeters [it's] 8 percent body fat. ... I'm at 9 percent body fat. And, that's not eight."
With center Shaquille O'Neal (knee surgery), forward Wayne Simien (recovering from salmonella poisoning) and guard Dwyane Wade (sprained wrist) all expected to miss Wednesday's game with injuries, the absence of Walker and Posey means the Heat will dress only 10 players against the Clippers.
Posey is averaging 7.3 points and 4.6 rebounds this season, while Walker is averaging 7.9 points and 4.1 rebounds on 40 percent shooting.

Apparently, their next "deadline" is Jan 15. If they don't make that, they're getting suspended.
Yeah I know. It's just weird to me. So if they fluctuate between 8.9 and 9.1 the rest of the year, will they just keep getting suspended and unsuspended all season? It's lame.
Fine with me, I'm sure the Knicks would just love to have Miami's ninth spot anyway.
What is Shaq's body fat % supposed to be at? And would he get deactivated if he's over the goal number? of course not....
as I read it, he needs to be under 8.0This is just weird to me, if Posey's just getting deactivated because he's 9% body fat not 8%. So what happens if he gets to 8.9 but then a few days later he's 9.1? Deactivated again?
8.9 would still be over the limit, therefore another deactivation.
haha, stupid losers
wow, i just realized they're only half a game ahead of the raps, and one game ahead of the knicks
Yeah I didn't know whether he had to be in the 8's or get below 8. Either way, you get my point. It's a weird thing.
What's your guess on Shaq's % currently?
the heat wont make the playoffs.... ive been saying it since before the season started
LMAO! I wouldn't even want to guess! With all the time off he's had since winning a ring ... but I do have to say that he wasn'y any where near a chubby as I expected at the beginning of the season.
Last year's Finals officiating was de able.. Heat are getting what they deserve, although the refs still let Wade spin, travel, palm the ball and charge at any defender of his choice, the Heat aren't getting anywhere with this squad and Riles know it. Sort of wished he had Stan Van Gundy back huh? Now that Riles has decided to tank the season.
What a bunch a ing bums you Heat haters are....the only reason why Miami even made the in playoffs last year was because of Shaq...he has played 2 games this season....how the do you expect them to be playing playoff basketball.....Miami gave up Butler, AND Odom for this guy so they obviously know how much he means to this team....just when Miami was ready to take the next step and go on a winning streak after the LA game, Wade got injured....now they've been playing without Wade, Shaq and for some games Posey, and Walker....how do you expect them to win like this...i guarantee Miami WILL make the playoffs and get to the ECF....from then on its to whoever wants it more....and Fillmoe, you havent beat the Heat in about 3 years or so, i wouldnt talk if i were you.
Eight percent.
Of gravy.
That is rigt, but O'Neal is an old guy and he would not make a big difference to the team.
Shaq may be old, he may not be the player he was six years ago, but he would make a huge difference to the Heat.
Forget for a moment Shaq's possible numbers (I would say at least 12/8) when he comes back, but the attention you have to pay to Shaq in the lane would change your defense enough to still allow Dwyane Wade to be the man and free up your slashers and shooters.
While it may not be the best group around, it might just be enough in the East to make some noise.
Some Wade Highlights

Didn't Riley quit on the Heat before when they started sucking hairy balls? So now that they suck once again, he's off for some surgery/vacation/season tanking/higher pick? That's weak sauce.
if this isnt palming, i dont know what is
