Already been playing it, but picking up my Special Edition in the morning.
After years of anticipation and wait...Halo 2 is set to release 2 minutes after 11:59 pm tonight(that's 12:01 am tomorrow for the math-impaired).![]()
EB games, GameRush, GameCrazy, Gamestop(I assume) will be opening their doors at midnight(if still not open) to release the game.
GameRush will have Lan tournaments at their locations before midnight rolls around.
I imagine Walmart, if they are the least bit competent, will also sell it at a minute past midnight. I don't know of best buy..it might be a store by store decision.
MTV, e TV and ESPN has had programming devoted to the game in the past week.
All I know is I can't wait to see what Bungie does with the online portion. Supposedly evey stat will be tracked on on official games. You can, through Bungie.net, by selecting your gamertag access prior games played and sort through all kind of stats...including the path you took where you died by who and what weapon etc. Sounds ambitious.
The reviews have been near-unanimous in giving Halo 2 near-perfect scores. It is wavering between 1 and 2 as to the all time ranked games on gamerankings.com. This site takes all game reviews and averages the scores.

what the , i thought it wasn't for 5 days. Holy this is good news.
Nope. The Gamestop here is selling them at midnight tonight.
First tip. Watch the whole intro. It's nice.
This is a prime example why I don't own a XBox/PS2/PC/Mac.
I had PS1 and Syphon Filter and spent hours on end playing that game much to the chagrin of my wife. I can only imagine how much time I'd spend playing a multi-player game on Broadband.
However, this new game looks pretty sharp.
Close Combat: First To Fight
![]()
“Close Combat: First to Fight,” created by Destineer Studios, in association with Headquarters, Marine Corps, the 1st Marine Division and Atomic Games, is a new training tool to help Marines learn about combat, and show civilians the type of work Marine infantrymen do during combat missions.
The game developers applied the “psychology model” concept to give the game a sense of realism. Players’ characters have a will of their own and are affected by the other players’ tactics. The psychology model was also applied to the enemies in the game. Players’ tactics could be used to scare their opponents, deplete enemy will to fight or cause the enemy to make a mistake, said Charbonneau.
The game is set to hit store shelves in early 2005, and will be available on Apple Windows-capable computers as well as the Microsoft Xbox. Both Marines and civilians can go online and work together in cooperative gaming modes. “This will allow civilians to see what an elite fighting force is like”, said Sharp.
I know the Best Buy @ Ingram is opening at midnight.
Just talked to my friend who's already in line @ EBGames at Ingram. It's about 130 people deep, so I'm going to head to my Gamestop here now and see if there's a line.
First one in, first one to get the game at Gamestop here in San Marcos.
Nice, I won't get a chance to play untill tomorrow sometime, but i hope some of you have sleepless nights with lots of halo
Actually, I'm not even going to bust it out until I get home tomorrow from work. I'd like to have some time to get into it a little more.
Went to the local Blockbuster...got there at 11:56..waited 10 minutes for them to get the games and heads out their asses. There were only about 20 people there...most had preorder so lined up in one line...for those of us without preorder put in other line..so I was second in line. Left at about 12:10 am...Finished playing about 20 minutes ago...The online portion is incredible. I love that you can play up to four teams versus each other..16 players total. It is nice. The online interface is the best XBL le to date. It is seemless when transitioning from offline to online. I love how you can talk to people in your immediate vicinity and the voices come from your speakers but when you activate your team intercom with press of the white button then you can speak to teammates on other part of the maps...and those you hear through your headset. Dual-wielding is nice for close encounters. I couldn't resist seeing the intro to the campaign.
Damn fine game.
