I just turned to the news and there was a story on Mr. Ford from Clark high school commiting suicide... I'm wondering if I heard correctly because I just can't believe it! I'm looking for a story on mysa or woai but nothing comes up.. Did anyone hear this? Anyone know him?
omg.. I can't believe it even reading it.
Didn't know him, did go to Clark, either way that's pretty sad, especially considering the time of the year and how close it probably was to Christmas that he did this.
Holy . I never had him for a class but that still sucks. I never heard bad things about him. Sad.
I never knew him, but it's hitting my little sister pretty hard (she's a sop re right now). Rumor is right now, (saying rumor because of his legacy and Manny, LuvBones and enigma for sure can vouche for it) that there was some sexual misconduct last semester, so he resigned. I never had him either, but laugh is truly memorable.

A Clark High School English teacher committed suicide days after he resigned from his job, amid allegations of sexual impropriety with a student, a district official said.
The body of Tommy Ford, 60, was discovered Sunday in a duplex in the 7000 block of Glen Mist. He had died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head, according to the Bexar County Medical Examiner's Office.
His body was decomposed, though investigators could not pinpoint how long he had been dead, the medical examiner's office said.
On Dec. 14, a 17-year-old male student and his family alleged Ford had engaged in “inappropriate conduct of a sexual nature” with the teen, said Pascual Gonzalez, spokesman for the North Side Independent School District. Ford was put on administrative leave with pay the same day, and an internal district investigation was launched.
On Dec. 21, Ford resigned. Gonzalez couldn't say if his suicide was linked to the incident, but he added the investigation was incomplete at the time of Ford's death.
Ford had been an English teacher at Clark since 1978 and had been with the school district since 1968, according to his Web site.
School counselors already were preparing to help students returning from their winter vacation grip with both their teacher's passing and the death of Clark senior Cassandra Hicks. Hicks died in a traffic accident Dec. 26 on a two-lane highway near Swee er, southwest of Lubbock

I wonder if the allegations had any merit.
If you ever drove down De Zavala around 8 in the morning he was the black guy with the orange juice walking towards Clark. He would drive to school, then walk to HEB to get breakfast and then walk back.
If they don't, it would suck to be the kid that acused him.

my mom called me about this yesterday ... I never had him for a class but he was a nice teacher. I won't forget his singing in the halls and you could hear his laugh across campus. not sure about the allegations though but I think everyone I knew assumed he was gay ... it is a great loss though

It's really shady to have sex with a student, but it's not a crime if the kid is 17. Unless he straight-up raped the kid, that's really sad to see someone end his life over something he did that was bad, but forgivable. Of course, my view on this changes drastically if we come to find out he was hooking up with 14 or 15 year-olds.
