Good! Now let's undress lady justice!
My eyes! My eyes! They burn!!!
So who will be the next peeping Tom?
Attorney General John Ashcroft and Commerce Secretary Don Evans have resigned, the White House said.
2 s down, 10 to go
I have heard this was coming....has there been a reason given?
Gee, at least they weren't indicted or killed in a plane crash. , Clinton went through cabinet members like a box of cigars...
Don Evans is one of the President's oldest and dearest friends. I'm sure he just got tired of the Washington bull and was ready to get back to his regular business.
And, no one should be asked to put up with another 4 years of what John Ashcroft went through. The only reason Janet "Waco" Reno didn't leave was because she was the only person keeping Clinton out of prison.

I'm wondering if this was the price for some of the moderate GOP support thrown Bush's way. Hmmm.
In a word, no.
How many cabinets are you aware of that remained intact through two terms?
At least something good has happened this month.
Oh who will be the next bogeyman for left wing nutjobs to obsess over? If any of you could actually muster a coherent argument as to why Ashcroft was undesirable other than his perceived image I would be surprised.
, Kerry had a not too small role in expanding the asset forfeiture power of the Feds and not a one of you little stormtroopers mentioned that.
It's not just an image. The man did more to weaken individual rights and search requirements than any AG in the past 100 years.
I think the fact that the terrorists got us to erode the cons ution, and jump at shadows may have been their ultimate victory, and is definitely "coherant". The "Patriot Act" was anything but.
I don't get why anyone would think the next Attorney General would do any less than pursue the President's objectives (largely unchanged) for that office.
Just where did Ashcroft and Bush differ on Justice Department policy? And, you expect the next person to be different?
i like my statues with boobies
So, get you some...no one's gonna stop ya.
This was my initial guess. I'm hoping a more moderate and less polarizing figure will take over the position.
Ashcroft was a guy doing his job - I don't share his personal beliefs, but I don't think his personal beliefs were interfering with his ability to do the job. The fact is he performed the job he was given and pushed the agenda he was given by his boss. Any Ashcroft angst should be directed to the source, Dubya.
Oh I'm pretty sure Bas knew what he was getting into. I think it's appropriate to throw angst at both Ashcroft and Dubya. And while his personal beliefs may not have affected his ability to do his job, Lady Justice's nakedness apparently did.
