    UFC FIGHT NIGHT 8: JANUARY 25, 2007 ON E TV -
    Hollywood, Florida

    Main Card Bouts:
    -Rashad Evans vs. Sean Salmon
    -Heath Herring vs. Jake O'Brien
    -Hermes Franca vs. Spencer Fisher

-Nathan Marquardt (#8 Middleweight in the World)* vs. Dean Lister (this is now the swing bout)

    Preliminary Bouts:
    -Josh Burkman vs. Chad Reiner
    -Ed Herman vs. Chris Price
    -Din Thomas vs. Clay Guida
    -Rich Clementi vs. Ross Pointon

    Give me:
Evans, although Salmon isn't bad and could pull off the upset...I'll be pulling for him...
    Herring
    Franca...please smash Fisher!
    Marquardt, Burkman, Herman, Guida, Clementi.

Look for this Heath Herring commercial this week on e...the infamous "kiss"...lol
    http://www.ufc.com/index.cfm?fa=Mult...etail&gid=4228

Genius marketing since the typical UFC / TUF fan doesn't know him. They'll love him before he even fights that night because of that commercial...

I know Clementi is going to take Ross Pointon to the ground and finish him off in a matter of a minute or two - but I'd still rather see that than anything with Rashad Evans. His nickname should be "The Neutralizer."

Pre-fight videos are up on UFC.com...
    http://www.ufc.com/index.cfm?fa=MultiMedia.video

Odds: (from betchris.com...not listed on Bodog yet)

    Lots of long odds...

No odds on Fisher-Franca because there are rumors that Fisher hurt his knee and has been replaced by a teammate. I hope not, because that was potentially the best fight on the card (it bumped Lister-Nate from the top 3 fights, well... e TV bumped it).

Pointon sucks, but could land a lucky punch (due to his fighting style) and pull off an upset.

Sean Salmon is now my longshot upset pick after seeing the odds...I think he could surprise.

Salmon, Herring, Franca, Marquardt, Guida, Herman, Burkman, Clementi are my picks I suppose...

Price missed his weight (by a lot) but Ed Herman agreed to take the fight anyway. Like Ed ever backed down from a fight

I like that at ude. Ed is a gamer and he gets a lot a points in my book. On the other hand, I think it would be a very bad move for an up-and-comer to not take the match over the weight issue. Especially when coming off of a loss. Ed seems like the type who wouldn't give f*ck about a few lbs over the limit though.

Damn Des! You've got some hate for Rashad! I kinda like his uber-atheletic wrestling style. It can get boring when he stalemates in the guard but I think if he gets a little more active with passing the guard then it will up the excitement level.

I'm also a fan of Josh "The Blanket" Kosheck, Kerr and Coleman so I guess I'm a fan of the one-dimensional wrestlers.

I don't really hate Rashad, I just think he could use a little work. Now, Koscheck... I do NOT have any affection for him at all. As a fighter or as a person. Rashad at least seems like a decent guy!

It just seems strange to me that they took Marquardt/Lister off the main event because they were worried it would not be exciting enough, but replaced it with the Rashad match. Heaven knows Rashad has had a few snoozers before.

Rashaad is a hometown boy, so hes always cool in my book. His fighting style leaves alot to be desired though. He is such a superiror athlete and wrestler, he should be able to ground and pound with the best but alas, cannot (yet).

Heath Herring wore a t-shirt and jeans at the weigh in. Could Heath be out of shape for this fight? I hear the guy he's fighting is pretty tough.

Hermes Franca just plain beat up Spencer Fisher. Great fight with good action on the ground and standing. Hermes begged for a le shot and will hopefully get it. I think he can take Sherk. What do you guys think?

Heath Herring looked HORRIBLE. He looked like he's stuck in the 1990's with no versatility. Very disappointing.

Herman picks up a slick armbar.

Rashad does his best Crocop impression and delivers the KO of the year, so far. How about that Des?! He'll make a fan of you yet.

He might just! I don't hate Rashad at all, I was just disappointed that we weren't going to get to see Marquardt/Lister. Rashad did very well for himself. Could have passed on watching Heath Herring getting his ass handed to him by somebody who's only been in mma for a couple of years, though. That stunk. I wonder if he got overconfident, or if it was just nerves?

That Rashaad knockout was brutal. Even he was a little bit disturbed that his opponent was still on his back when he was doing the interview with Rogan.

All in all, great night. I love MMA on cable television. Now they just need their own channel, so that I will never have to channel surf again.
