I guess they thought it would be unfair to give it to Dirk again.

NEW YORK, March 5, 2007 – The Boston Celtics’ Al Jefferson and the Sacramento Kings’ Kevin Martin today were named the Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Week, respectively, for games played Monday, Feb. 26 through Sunday, March 4.

He posted 26 points, nine rebounds, five assists and two blocks in a 102-94 win over New York on Feb. 28 and recorded a career-high 32 points to go with 18 rebounds and two blocks in a 96-88 win at New Jersey on March 3.
Martin averaged 28.0 points, 5.0 rebounds and 3.5 assists in helping Sacramento to a 3-1 record on the week. He posted 36 points, five rebounds, four assists and two steals in a 135-120 win over Charlotte on Feb. 28 and notched 33 points, six rebounds and six assists, matching his career best, in a 104-96 win at Portland on March 3.
Two young rising stars, that are only getting better

A bitter Mav's fan? NO!
Huh?
Bitter about what?![]()
Wasn't that you who asserted Dirk should get the POTW instead of Kevin?
He should, but I am not bitter about it.
...yet you mention it out of no-fukking-where.
What's the problem, the stats? Because Dirk is a PF, Kevin is a SG/SF.
Take it easy Nancy.
You are going to have a heart attack over nothing.

I'm okay. Just wondering what all the fuss is about Kevin getting the honor this week instead of Dirk, and thought to ask you. But you obviously can't argue your position.
I already showed why Dirk should have been the POTW.
BTW, I have no problem with Martin getting the award. I just pointed out that someone else had better numbers
Kevin scored 3.5 more points than Dirk did, and he did it shooting 52%. Height-wise and position-wise, Dirk is the rebounder. Dirk is also the center of your offense, so he's gonna handle the ball more and rack up more assists.
In this case, numbers are relative, no?
And Kings going 3-1 with Martin's numbers isn't, errrmmmmmm, status quo.![]()
Im just saying that the numbers dont lie.
Someone else had a better week than Martin.
I guess they are trying to spread the award around, because Dirk could probably take it every week.

Well, looks like someone missed the call on Dirk yet again.
Actually, congrats to the players of the week...but in reference to the Dirk comment by the Mavs fan, Dirk was named player of the month for February (along with Billups).
Nowitzki, Billups named NBA Players of the Month
March 1, 2007
NEW YORK (TICKER) -- Dirk Nowitzki was rewarded for lifting the Dallas Mavericks to the top of the NBA.
The superstar forward of the Mavericks on Thursday was named the Western Conference Player of the Month for February.
Detroit Pistons guard Chauncey Billups was honored in the East.
On his way to leading the Mavs to a 10-0 record for the month, Nowitzki averaged 27.1 points and 9.7 rebounds. The 7-foot German scored at least 30 points four times during the month.
Dallas (48-9) is in the midst of a 13-game winning streak, its third run of at least 12 games this season.
Billups averaged 17.9 points and 7.5 assists while leading the Pistons to a 10-1 record for the month.
Other nominees were Cleveland's LeBron James, New Jersey's Vince Carter, New Orleans' Tyson Chandler, New York's Eddy Curry, Philadelphia's Andre Iguodala, Phoenix's Amare Stoudemire and Toronto's Chris Bosh.

get off his
i think this is why td was pissed off for gettin sub in the minutes of the clippers game, missin out on potw again....
Yes, I know.
But like I said, his numbers are better than Martins THIS WEEK.
I guess its the NBA trying to spread the award around instead of giving it to Dirk every week.
Tough guy

Very true.
I wonder if they called Dirk first to see if it was alright to give the award to Martin?

If Dirk hadn't choked when the phone rang maybe the award would be his?
Does anyone care? Being player of the week doesn't mean sh*t.
wtf? it means the guy is playing well and if it's one of our guys it's a little pat on the back. why even watch the season if you're not going to celebrate the smaller things?
