The old UFC looks like the jap league, a whole lotta punching and nary a ground game. Many jap league jock riders hate the ground game because they don't understand how to use or defend elbows.

No but they might as well!
You can kick/knee a fighter in the head if they're down, , why not just eye gouge?

Some of those jap league fights are so lame and boring, with a 1st round where most of their fighters get gassed and just "limp it out" the last 5min of the 1st round.

The fighting rules (length of rounds, the way the fights are judged, and the ring are obviously different too) are the same in Pride except for:

Pride - no elbows to the head but you can kick or knee to the head on the ground

UFC - elbows to the head but you can't kick or knee to the head on the ground

For some reason, kicking on the ground isn't acceptable in the US (they usually don't show them on FSN), but slicing a guy open with a weak elbow is fine...

If you have to ask if they "bareknuckle" and "pull hair" in Japan then I have to question how much you know about MMA...

    Wow!
I just read that obviously some DUMBASS Opie doesn't think anything but elbows can cut someone?

Wow, someone needs to watch something besides japs.
Fists, kicks and knees have been known to end fights too!
