I kinda thought that would be the outcome. Wade is a "gamer" and I didn't think he'd want to concede defeat so early. Does anyone think this is a mistake? Could this be like Amare last year, coming back for a few games then shutting it down because he came back too early?

Stupid mistake. Luckily they are in the east though and even without him they could make the playoffs. I actually think the heat have a chance to repeat now, I can't imagine how much extra love he will get from the refs. I feel bad for the pistons or any other team that has to play them in the playoffs.

Wade says he'll try to return for playoffsAssociated Press

MIAMI -- Dwyane Wade will try to come back this season.

The Miami Heat guard said Monday he has decided to delay surgery and rehabilitate his dislocated left shoulder with the goal of returning for the playoffs.

Wade was hurt Feb. 21 at Houston. He underwent extensive tests and received a second opinion Friday from specialist Dr. James Andrews before making his decision.

"My decision for the next two to three weeks is to rehab with the possibility of coming back, but with no guarantees," Wade said. "I'll find out after therapy and rehab how my body responds to things."

Wade's announcement was a boost for the defending NBA champions, who have been plagued by injuries all season. They enter Monday night's game against Atlanta at 29-29 and are in danger of missing the playoffs.

The Heat are 3-2 since their All-Star guard was hurt when he collided with Houston's Shane Battier. At the time, Wade was the league's third-leading scorer at 28.8 points per game.

The playoffs begin April 21. Even if Wade returns this season, he is still expected to have surgery after the season.

If he can come back close to 80 percent the way Shaq is playing right now, it might not be a mistake. Im just worried about re-injury, or the fact that his shot will be completely off when he comes back.

His style of play, and constant falling to the floor in my mind lends to a great chance of re-injury. If I were him, I'd have opted for surgery.

I don't know about "mistake", but it sure as is a big risk. Wade's game is predicated on his ability to slash to the basket and draw contact while finishing. That's going to be tough if he's worried about the injury, or even tougher if he doesn't worry about the injury and is reckless. I'd like to see how his rehab goes before I make a determination of whether his comeback attempt is stupid.

Doesn't matter. Miami's not good enough to go anywhere in the playoffs, with or without Wade.

Mistake. I can just see how ESPN/ABC is going to be all over his nuts as he is "gutting it out" and "heroically coming back" to save his team. I am sure David Stern will be revizing the rules so Wade will get the majority of the foul calls

It's really the decision he had to make since Shaq is on the decline. He really can't count on Shaq finishing out the last few years of his contract so he knows this might be his last chance to win a le.

It is a giant risk. With the injury he had, most doctors would recommend him sitting out for the rest of the year. If he comes back, I hope he continues his aggressivness but be smart about it at the same time because any slight fall on that shoulder can cause that to linger with him for the rest of his career.

How ironic it is that Piston and Mav fans say Wade is making a mistake? Then again after the way he torched your teams, last thing you want is to see him again in the postseason. The way you people celebrated after his injury... .

Ironic that David Stern would be listed as a Miami Heat fan Giving nothing to the fact that if he should come back, the Heat would still be a low seed in the playoffs, having used up all that Shaq has just to get into the playoffs, having Wade be less than 100% going into the playoffs, with a further risk of injury and more damage.

They certainly have enough to beat Dallas four games in a row.

    updated ESPN article:

Dwyane Wade will try to come back this season.

The Miami Heat guard said Monday he has decided to delay surgery and rehabilitate his dislocated left shoulder with the goal of returning for the playoffs.

"My decision for the next two to three weeks is to rehab with the possibility of coming back, but with no guarantee," Wade said. "I'll find out after therapy and rehab how my body responds to things."

Wade was hurt Feb. 21 at Houston. He underwent extensive tests and received a second opinion Friday from specialist Dr. James Andrews before deciding he would try to return.

"The fact there's a possibility would give us hope," coach Pat Riley said. "He's a pretty good player. He probably would be a pretty good player one-armed."

The defending NBA champion Heat, plagued by injuries all season, enter Monday night's game against Atlanta at 29-29 and are in danger of missing the playoffs.

The Heat are 3-2 since Wade was hurt when he collided with Houston's Shane Battier. The All-Star guard tore his labrum, dislocated his shoulder and left the court in a wheelchair.

At the time, his was the league's third-leading scorer, averaging 28.8 points.

Wade said the decision to return was difficult, even though Andrews and team physician Dr. Harlan Selesnick supported the idea.

"It could have been easy for me just to shut it down," Wade said. "You don't know if you're going to be able to attack the same way and dive on the floor the same way. I'll find out after therapy and rehab how my body responds to things."

The playoffs start April 21. Even if Wade returns this season, he is still expected to have surgery after the season.

They'll go after his shoulder the same way hockey players attack each other when they know where you're dinged up/bruised.

I've never gone on record or said anything to suggest fantasizing about my mother, so I don't see how your "insult" works on any level.

YOU, however, are very clearly on record about fantasizing about George W. Bush's penis.
