    Minor Tear of Labrum Could Sideline Nowitzki 3-4 weeks or more

    Dallas Mavericks power forward Dirk Nowitzki could be out at least 3-4 weeks after an MRI Thursday revealed a partial tear of the labrum in his right shoulder.

    The injury apparently occured during the Mavericks' Tuesday night victory over the New Jersey Nets. Nowitzki complained of a numbing pain after the game, and further tests were taken which revealed the tear. Tests also revealed a slight chance of breast cancer.

    Owner Mark Cuban said Thursday that the forward will miss the team's upcoming two game roadtrip to California in order to rest and rehabilitate the shoulder.

    It was funny until you brought up breast cancer. People die from it.

    My favorite Dirk injury was against the Spurs in '01, which the Spurs won 4-1, in which Dirk got elbowed in the mouth by (I think) David Robinson. Slow-mo camera caught teeth flying through the air.

    Dirk just went to the bench, put in a mouthguard, and kept playing. The Mavs won that game.

    dirk is tougher than most people think when it comes to injuries. not sure if this is the same game but i remember he got busted in the mouth, ran to the lockerroom, pulled out the tooth that was loose, quickly came back to the court and continued playing

    Yeah, he did go back to being a jumpshooter after that. At least there's one thing we definitely know about Dirk at this point...he learns from all his mistakes.

    he couldn't get a call, so he probably figured that jumpshots had a better chance of going in.
