Lesson of the Day: Dont heave the ball to end a game.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
WASHINGTON, March 30 (AP) -- Chris Bosh had a huge start and an even bigger finish.
Bosh scored eight of his 37 points in overtime, and the Toronto Raptors remained in the third spot in the Eastern Conference playoff race with a 123-118 victory over the Washington Wizards on Friday night.
The Wizards appeared to have a victory secured until Michael Ruffin's celebratory heave toward the rafters landed in the hands of Raptors guard Morris Peterson, whose 3-pointer from 31 feet tied the score at 109 as the horn sounded ending regulation.
"I was hoping it went in, and, shoot, it went in,'' Bosh said of Peterson's desperation heave. "After that, I was just concentrating on winning the game.''
Ruffin intercepted Anthony Parker's inbounds pass from underneath the Wizards' basket near midcourt and flung the ball high into the air with 1.1 seconds left.
"It was just a natural reaction to throw it in the air,'' Ruffin said. "I was thinking the time would run out. I guess there ended up being more time than I expected, and I didn't have a good hold on the ball. I threw it off my palm.''
Peterson attempted his game-tying shot with .02 of a second left.
"When I saw (Ruffin) tip it, I looked and I saw I had a chance to get it and it turned out the ball just came to me,'' said Peterson, who played only the final 4.4 seconds of regulation and the last 47 seconds of overtime. "I looked at the clock real quick and there was like one second, and I just threw it up. Thankfully it went in, gave us another chance - gave us another win, and I'll take it.''
what's even weirder, peterson only played for 55secs the entire ballgame!
Butler just looked at the ball, I think he should have put a hand on his face.
Watch #4, Antawn Jamison during the play. He does a little dance and starts walking towards the tunnel as the game is tied. Hilarious

Odom was probably thinking like he got a rebound or something.
maybe he thought it was a pickup game
What I am thinkin
how is that a boneheaded play? thats just bizzare.
For me, one of the most boneheaded plays I saw was that exchange between Tony Parker and Tim Duncan in last year's series versus Sacramento.
For those who don't recall, after Sacramento scored, Tim took the ball out of the net and flipped it slowly at Tony who was walking toward him. Tony caught it, and without breaking stride or even dribbling the ball, walked out of bounds intending to inbound to Tim.![]()

The play made the game closer and Sacramento was giving us a real fight, but I didn't care. I could not stop laughing.
odd, i don't remember that...jho's timeout is probably up there in the top ten bonehead plays, at least for last season
One of my favorites was Rasheed Wallace leaving Robert Horry to try and trap Manu Ginobili in the left corner at the end of game five, 2005 NBA Finals. This was literally less than a minute after Larry Brown told the team "No three-point plays."![]()
For some reason, I cant find the play I was searching on youtube. Go check NBA.com today and find the Haier play of the day for April 3. Its not boneheaded, but its one of teh weirdest plays I've seen.
