ing fools fired Stan Heath, to hire another mid-major unproven nobody.

    I'll start.

JFB is such a ing hick, he had to get rid of the black to hire the white before he left.

No, he really isn't. But when you do what he just did he is free to take shots. Fired a black, for a white, who hasn't proven or done . Probably worse hire than Heath.

Altman's not exactly a nobody. But it's not clear that he's ever going to be a guy to get somebody to the Final Four.

I don't follow the Razorbacks that closely, but didn't Heath turn them around from being pretty bad?

I dunno anything about Altman. All i know about Arkansas is that Houston Nutt has all but ruined that football program. They could be competing for a national le next year, instead it's gonna be McFadden for Heisman and not much else.

Well, it's not like he's done "nothing." He's turned Creighton into one of the 3 or 4 best mid-majors in the country.

He made a few NITs and an NCAA tournament with a KSU team that was dealing with its entire budget being funnelled into football (and this was at a time when most believe that he wasn't ready to be a head coach).

As an assistant, he was also responsible for landing Mitch Richmond and the majority of Lon Kruger's 1988 Elite 8 team.

Yeah when Nolan left so did our big time recruiting class he had. Heath started from scratch. Discovered Brewer himself though.

HAHA Looks like Altman may not be coming...If you cant get Creighton's coach who can you get.

Dana Altman is heading back to Creighton.

Altman, who left to take the job at Arkansas on Monday morning, has decided not to go to Fayetteville after all, according to a pair of industry sources close to the situation.

Altman, 48, has spent the last 13 years at Creighton and was 260-141 in his tenure.

Arkansas missed out on Billy Gillispie and outgoing athletic director Frank Broyles turned his attention to Altman earlier this week.

Altman took the job, went to Arkansas yesterday and then changed his mind this morning.

Phone calls placed to Altman were not immediately returned.

Looks like this is official: http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/news/story?id=2824653

Altman was believed to be at least the Razorbacks' sixth target. Arkansas officials reportedly offered the job to Texas A&M's Billy Gillespie, Kansas' Bill Self, Southern California's Tim Floyd, Memphis' John Calipari and Marquette's Tom Crean, who each turned the job down.
Sorry, Brutalis. This has gone from ridiculous to downright sad. Any coincidence that all six of these dudes from the story are white?

I'd go after VCU's Anthony Grant now - really, who else is left besides guys like Tommy Amaker and Ricardo Patton? Problem here is, Stan Heath is better than all three of them.

There's another problem with those last four names that might prevent them from getting hired in Fayetteville, too.

All those mentioned names are in better situations than Arkansas. The Razorbacks may be shooting too high. They need to go for the Sidney Lowes of the world and aim a little lower.

Altman was a reasonable choice, because the potential at Arkansas is clearly higher than what you can hope to do at Creighton. Same for VCU and probably Marquette (although Crean no doubt has his sights higher).

Publicly going after Gillispie, Floyd, and Self was stupid.

Marquette has a more storied history than Arkansas, if Arkansas thinks of themselves as a storied program. Going after Floyd, with Mayo coming in, and Self, who is at a top place in Kansas, was questionable. But I'm not sure how hard they pushed. They need to pull another mid-major somewhere, but something about that program reeks right now.

They need to find some guy married to his sister in order to fit in with the Arkansas culture.

This is even more pathetic than the billions spent on Oklahoma State's program to receive nothing but for their athletic teams.

This is why we can't have a decent forum. Have a nice thread and some uneducated, uncouth imbecile comes in and screws it up.

I completely forgot about the FF's in the 40s.

On that basis, Arky has a much richer BB tradition than Marquette.

Not to mention a crapload more money.
