GUILLARD CITED FOR ALLEGED COCAINE USE
By Loretta hunt ([email protected])
A post-fight urinalysis conducted for April 5 UFC Fight Night headliner Melvin Guillard has allegedly tested positive for cocaine metabolite, said the Nevada State Athletic Commission today – a first for a mixed martial arts athlete in the State.
Guillard, 23, was submitted by lightweight Joe Stevenson with a guillotine choke 27 seconds into the first round of their April 5 contest at The Palms Hotel & Casino.
The Kenner, Louisiana native will have 30 days from the receipt of a written complaint to reply to the allegation and will be temporarily suspended at a forthcoming NSAC meeting. Guillard will face the Commission’s board at a second hearing where he can speak on his behalf and/or provide evidence to contest the allegation if he chooses. If found within violation of the state agency’s regulations, Guillard could be subjected to suspension and/or fines. Guillard earned $7,000 for his April 5 loss to Stevenson.
In 1997, boxer Lionel Butler’s urinalysis reflected the presence of Benzoylegonine, a cocaine metabolite. Butler’s urinalysis also reflected the presence of Delta-9-THC carboxylic acid, the major metabolite of Delta-9-THC (the active ingredient in marijuana). Butler was subsequently suspended for one year for the infractions. No combat sports participant has tested positive for cocaine metabolite till now.
Guillard (20-7-1) rose to prominence on “The Ultimate Fighter 2,” which aired on e TV in 2005. Noted for his athleticism and speed, Guillard then returned to his native New Orleans and endured Hurricane Katrina’s wrath, even stepping up to assist stranded citizens alongside him.
The “Young Assassin” has appeared four times in the Octagon since his reality series run with a 2-2 record.
Guillard was initially unreachable for comment.

Cocaine doesn't stay in your system very long, right? He must have been snorting pretty close to the day of his fight.
He probably was snorting it before he came out, and thats why he looked like a complete fool.
The best part is that he accused Stevenson of using HGH a couple weeks before their fight. He was then submitted in less than 30 seconds and tested positive for coke, talk about getting OWNED![]()
Well thought out point...thanks for sharing...![]()
hahahaha...awesome...
i knew he was on something. He didnt take the loss to well.
