- PRIDE (3RD USA SHOW): APRIL 28 (**CANCELLED**)
Not only has the April 28th Pride US show been cancelled, but the president of Pride US is suing DSE...ouch.
http://evilmaster-mma.blogspot.com/2...d-us-show.html
They still have a show in the US scheduled for July, but...
It doesn't appear that Pride is going to stick with most of the US fans, which is a shame. People are talking about how great UFC 68 was but if you saw Pride 33 last weekend you'd know that there was no comparison. 9 fights vs 5 for the same $40 for starters... (unless you paid $50 for UFC in HD). The best card I've seen in quite some time. I think some of the UFC cards this year could potentially match it. UFC 70, 71, and 72 are all looking REALLY good so far...
also, all 10 fighters that were drug tested after Pride 33 passed their tests...
http://www.sherdog.com/news/articles.asp?n_id=6900
Honestly I'd rather watch Pride under Pride rules anyway, so if they're done with live events in the US it's not the end of the world. As good as Pride 33 was, it probably would've been even better under Pride rules in Japan...
The Pride LW tourny is going to be wicked this year (starts on May 5th)...![]()
We can use this thread for updates on the next month or so...![]()

Mir, Joslin, and Torres removed from next UFN card...3 TBA's on it now.
I wonder if they're setting up Mir - Sylvia 2 since Tim lost? Would be a good way for them to let Tim avenge the broken arm and build him back up some with another win...
I wanted to see Antoni Hardonk KO Mir.
Me too...
Mir's replacement...Justin McCully

UFC 71... o vs Rashad Evans, instead of Keith Jardine like has been reported previously...I really like this matchup...

I like o alot in that one. He will bring Evans back down to earth in a hurry.
UFC 71 — May 26, 2007 (Las Vegas, Nev.)
Chuck Liddell vs. TBA
o Ortiz vs. Rashad Evans
Karo Parisyan vs. Josh Burkman
Eric Schafer vs. Sean Salmon
Chris Leben vs. Kalib Starnes
I want to see Fitch fight Karo instead of Burkman. Salmon??? WTF is he doing on a UFC card???
I've been begging for a Rashad loss for a while. Finally a really good test for him...
I think we'll see Fitch replace Burkman before too long...
and Salmon was holding his own pretty well til he got his head kicked off. Not saying he'll be the next big thing, but I don't have a big problem with him getting another shot to show what he can do. He probably signed a 3 fight deal or something. He should handle Shafer...
I'm pretty sure this means we'll see Chuck vs Jardine at UFC 71 also...
I'll pick Shafer, and if Salmon gets another shot, it should be on a UFN, not a PPV event.

Well, I certainly can't defend that kick...no idea what he was thinking there![]()
I just realized that this McCully guy is one of o's training partners...he's got a sweet skillet...
http://www.sherdog.com/fightfinder/f...?FighterID=930
That's the guy that is always in o's corner. I wondered who he was. Looks like McCully is going down.
How does Leban keep getting fights? He is one of the worst professional fighters I have ever seen
He's beaten some tough guys and he has knockout power. Not a very smart fighter in my opinion, but he is definatley not the worst I've seen.
Leben makes a good gatekeeper at 185. He has a strong chin, knows how to cut a promo, and fights to please the fans. I bet they keep him around for a while.
Never heard of him either...but his book might be interesting, and I thought it was cool that he was able to push it on the Daily Show...
He posts on the UG forum...
New Dana White interview...maybe we do see Chuck vs Rampage @ 71...hmmm...
UFCJunkie.com
Recap:
-Randy Couture will next fight the winner of Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic and Gabriel Gonzaga, who battle in the main event of UFC 70. This, essentially, means Couture’s first le defense will be against Cro Cop.
-Anderson Silva will “probably” fight Nate Marquardt next. (UFCjunkie.com first broke this story last month, and it better damn well happen. Marquardt’s been jerked around too often lately.)
-White “would have to say yes” that Matt Hughes is next in line for a le shot (current champ Georges St. Pierre faces Matt Serra at UFC 69 next month).
-On whether or not PRIDE Fighting Championships is for sale, White conceded that he isn’t really sure. As he says of PRIDE executives, “That’s a wacky bunch of people.”
-On a Wrestling Observer report that the contract that Brandon Vera turned down was worth $200,000 per fight: “No, I don’t think that is true.” White said that his next fight — the last on Vera’s current contract and possibly last fight in the UFC — hasn’t been scheduled.
-On UFC 70 and on our report earlier today that UFC 70 could end up on e TV rather than HBO: “UFC 70 will be on free television. It’s going to be a free TV deal for the fans here in the U.S.” He confirmed it will “probably” be on e TV.
-On his March 24 boxing match with o Ortiz: “I’ve been training hard every day and it’s kicking the s— out of me. This was the dumbest thing I’ve ever done. But yes, I’m following it through, and I’m giving it 100 percent… There’s going to be a show about the fight on e and then the actual fight itself will be on UFC.com.”
-As far as o Ortiz’s opponent for UFC 71: “We are talking about Rashad Evans right now.” (Obviously, that’s not exactly a definite, so stay tuned.)
When asked if Chuck Liddell will fight Quinton “Rampage” Jackson for the le at UFC 71, White says: “Most likely.” (UFCjunkie.com note: Liddell vs. Jackson and Ortiz vs. Evans on the same card? Wow!)
-On recent reports (check out mmanews.com and CBS Sportsline.com) that PRIDE USA Vice President Jerry Millen had unflattering things to say about him, including calling White “a ” at one point: “The guy’s an idiot. Pride is in a situation right now where they’re in trouble, and they’re trying to grab for anything they can on the way down, so I think that’s why Jerry Millen is even being put in a position right now where he’s even allowed to speak publicly. I can tell you this, and I’ve been in a million meetings with Pride’s upper management for a lot of different things, and Jerry Millen has never been in any of them.”
-On whether or not Travis Lutter will fight again in the UFC after failing to make weight for his le fight with Anderson Silva (and ultimate losing): ” I don’t know. You know, I’m pretty mad at Travis. I’m pretty upset with him. It’s very unprofessional and very irresponsible to come in the way that he came in. It’s crazy.”
-On the UFC possibly starting a 145-pound featherweight division: “No, I don’t think we will anytime soon. That’s why we did it in the WEC.”

Some type of joke? I can't read Croatian. If it were true, Randy's chances of beating Crocop just went up 200%.
Jeff Joslin out of UFN. DAMMIT! I wanted to see him fight!
"On Friday I mentioned that Jeff Joslin — as well as Frank Mir and Anthony Torres — had been removed from the latest UFC Fight Night 9 rumored fight card.
Yesterday we learned that Mir’s removal resulted from a nagging shoulder injury.
And according to The Fight Network, Joslin was also bumped from the card because of injury:
An undisclosed injury has forced Canadian welterweight Jeff Joslin to pull out of his scheduled bout with Kuniyoshi Hironaka (10-3) at the upcoming e TV-presented UFC Fight Night on April 5 at The Pearl in The Palms Casino & Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Joslin, a Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt who has a strong following back in his native Canada, was brought into the organization this past December to face rising welterweight contender Josh Koscheck at UFC Fight Night 7. Although Koscheck had shown impressive striking in his previous win over Jonathan Goulet, the former NCAA Division I national wrestling champion reverted primarily to his wrestling skills to win rounds against Joslin.
Joslin entered the fight an underdog, and it was obvious the Fight Night crowd, which was comprised of U.S. soldiers at the Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, threw its support behind the UFC newcomer. Unfortunately, Joslin lost via unanimous decision.
There’s no word when Joslin, who has two fights remaining on his current three-fight contract, might compete next."

"IFL Battleground" on "My Network TV" is catching a lot of flack for it's promo's. How they're presenting the sport is complete garbage...
http://www.mmaweekly.com/absolutenm/...articleid=3590
What a joke...I haven't seen it yet. The next airing is Saturday...
We caught it last night. They showed some great fights, yes, but the promotion of it was crap. I just rolled my eyes every time they showed the "stretcher scene" and at one point my husband actually yelled out loud. There were some high points (extra interviews with Bas, Don Frye and a couple of the other coaches and fighters), but overall it had a very WWE-ish feel to it.
