Stones.
Who was the best band of the 60's and 70's?
Pink Floyd, managed to lose their creative genius and star performer in Syd and remained a dominate force in rock history.
Led Zeppelin....Stairway to Heaven, enough said.
The Beatles, 7,842 number one hits. I think.
Stones.
That's hard, but in my opinion, it's between Led Zeppelin and The Beatles only. There will never be another Bonzo. They could go from a whisper to a roar from the stroke of any one of his limbs. The Beatles wrote some of the most memorable melodies and their sound has influenced many bands. I'd give it to Led Zeppelin, but The Beatles are a close second.
Doobie Bros.
Skynyrd
Earth Wind & Fire
Beach Boys
Ted Nugent
ZZ Top
Kool & The Gang
1. The Beatles
2. Pink Floyd
99. Led Zeppelin
Zeppelin was just not a good band. Horrible singer in Robert Plant and an overrated guitar player in Jimmy Page. Stairway to Heaven was decent, but none of their other tunes were worth a .
how about the beatles individually ranked wit them fellas?
These are my top 3 favorite bands of all time. Hands down.
I'd say it's between the Beatles and Zep.
Individually, John Lennon is definitely my favorite member of the three, but I think Zep is my favorite band.
No love for the Floyd? Come on, the Beatles were a glorified pop band.
they started as one. i didn't really care for the "i wanna hold your hand" era. i guess i got into them when they got into drugs.
Beatles = overrated
And most of their hits came from this era. Even their better stuff was shallow in comparison to Floydian works. Its just a different beast.
I won't deny the talent of each Beatle...but talent does not equate to musical grandeur. I would put the Beatles behind Floyd, the Stones, and Led Zep simple because of the nature of their works.
dam yall are pops as , stairway was one of zeppelins worst songs
When people talk about The Beatles in terms of being among the greatest bands in music history, they're not talking about the early work. For example, you won't see "With the Beatles" and "Please Please Me" on any lists of the top ten albums ever recorded.
I love all three of these bands, but if any of them is overrated, it's Pink Floyd.
here here.
None of these bands are over-rated, they all did different things for rock. Out of the 3 I enjoy The Beatles and Floyd pretty much equally. If anyone is over-rated its the ing Stones
stones early stuff was great, their later stuff has dropped off but they were amazingly consistently good for a looong time. their dropoff wasn't nearly as horrible as pink floyd's when waters left. those 2 albums after him are god awful.
I don't know, I thought they were both better than The Final Cut.
A bit over processed, but at least they were musical.

Is Led Zeppelin the joke option here?
Yea, personally I never liked Zeppelin at all, I can see how thet are a good band and all, but I cant stand their music or Plants voice
I'd say its a tie between the Beatles and Floyd. The Beatles were my introduction into classic rock, and the I discovered Pink Floyd and their trippy sounds. Had an obsession with both at different points of my life.
Led Zeppelin is great too, but I only like select songs.
That the jam right there^^^^^
Speaking of... I'd say Bowie is more overrated than the lot of them.
But that's just my opinion.
Yea, probably, but he has a couple songs that are on my all time favorites list
...than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.
I wanted to like him.... I downloaded a bunch of his 70's albums and immersed myself in them for a week, but it never really clicked. Aladdin Sane, Ziggy S ust, Station to Station, Low...
Hunky Dory was the only one I got through without wanting to stop. I haven't listened to Heroes yet.
At least it was inventive, though. For that reason, I'll probably give him another shot at some point. But for now, to me, he's one of those critical darlings of the Seventies whose appeal I don't really understand.
But that's art...
