I don't understand why people are ignoring Duncan or Parker to become MVP. If Nash gets MVP AGAIN, I will swear it's RIGGED!

I say Duncan over Parker. Parker plays off Duncan, not the other way around. Duncan sets the screens, Duncan seals his man and opens up the lane for Parker etc. Parker's 3 point shooting isn't good enough to fully stretch the defense when Duncan's down on the block

Because it is not just one person doing it all. It has been a team effort to get us here. Parker and Duncan have really been a two headed monster. And most of the time we have at least one other person stepping up and contributing. If they could have Duncan/Parker Co-MVP'S Im all for it.

Duncan should be the MVP. I've maintained this all along. He is the only player in the NBA who plays at an elite level both offensively and defensively. Who's the next closest guy we can say that about? Marion?

Duncan gets his 20 points, opens up the lane for Tony and Manu to get about 20 points, passes to open shooters off his doubleteams for another 20. He directly or indirectly influences most of of our offense. And on defense, he's the key to make it all work. He's the guy we flood people to, he's the guy we expect to rebound, to change shots, alter shots. He can't be any more valuable.

Duncan is looking good to win his 4th REAL MVP, the playoffs MVP. Anything regular season is uninteresting to me. Its all about money time and padays start in April.

At least according to the coaches who vote for the All-Defense teams, Kobe has to be the answer. Of course, Kobe's team didn't have nearly the record that Timmy's team had.

Tim doesn't get any run for MVP for several reasons. Most significantly, he doesn't play enough minutes to put up the sort of gaudy numbers that MVP's tend to have. This year, for instance, he was 20th in PPG and 7th in RPG. It's tough to get the attention of enough voters to win the MVP when you're not in the Top 10 in scoring.

Tim's "boring" label, I think, also hurts him as well. If he was a flashy guy, he'd probably get more consideration from the media, but because he's so understated (as Mike Lupica says occasionally on the Sports Reporters, "Tim Duncan might be the least talked about dominant player in history") he doesn't always get the national buzz that MVP winners tend to have over the long course of a season.

Along those lines, I think Tim is also excluded from the conversation about those who will actually win the award -- he'll always get votes and will frequently finish high in the voting -- because he's already won the award twice. He certainly deserves to have won more than 2 at this point. I still think he was robbed in 1999.

Put all of that together and you get a bunch of top 10 finishes, but a guy who might not ever win the award again.

MVP is usually handed out sometime during the 2nd Round -- occasionally (cough, cough 1995 cough, cough) the league will wait until the Conference Finals to had out the award.

They might be delaying the MVP this year a bit to let the dust settle around the Mavericks and dampen the controversy that will ensue if Dirk is the winner.

MVP goes to a dominant offensive player. Tim had a nice season but simply didn't put up the numbers to be seriously considered. He'll probably end up third when the voting is announced. As others have said, the MVP that counts is the one announced after post-season W 16.

I'm not worried about Duncan getting another MVP. He's a rookie of the year, 2 time league mvp, 3 time champion AND 3 time finals MVP (though I don't know if he really deserved it in '05).

Nash has a couple of mvp's but NO RINGS!!!

Dirk may get mvp but everyone knows he's a straight up CHOKER!!! And he has NO RINGS!!!

I'm sure both those guys would trade 10 mvp trophies for ONE of Tim's rings.
