if everyone is busy i start bagging myself.
So I'm at safeway... checking out. There's the dude at the register and theres a bunch of groceries to be bagged while he keeps ringing up my items. The bag boy(s) are at the other counters helping out others. Would you bag yourself or is that kinda making the bag boys look bad? I know if you shop at like a ty place like food maxx you bag yourself, but safeway?
if everyone is busy i start bagging myself.
i usually bag the groceries if nobody is there. if the cashier bags the groceries, they always take forever.
nope.
At target they are kind trying to get you to bag your own stuff... but I'm already paying more for shopping there instead of wal-mart, so I make it obvious I am busy with my kids and they usually do it 90% of the time.
Heb bags my stuff all the time. So does Sun-Harvest![]()
No.
no
If it gets me on the road faster I will help bag them. Don't matter to me.
I always bag my groceries.... I can't stand it when some idiot sacker puts heavy stuff in the same bag as my bread... or throws the apples into a bag instead of carefully placing to avoid bruising... or puts the dishwasher detergent in the same bag as my bananas.
I realize they don't get paid much so they don't care. All the more reason to do it myself.
The only place I buy enough to worry about someone bagging is HEB, and their baggers typically go a good job, they get trained on what goes with what and where in bags...
And no I don't bag my own groceries, I buy too many to do that myself...
you are a picky asshole
No argument here.
HEB baggers put bread in separate bags, and ask me if its ok if meat is in a bag with other stuff.by me.
In light of recent developments (....finding out that GiG does the same thing I do in regards to groceries and for pretty much the same reason) I have decided to do a 180 and begin allowing the sacker to do his/her job to avoid any identical traits to said individual.
If there is a lot of groceries to be bagged and the baggers are helping other then I start bagging groceries and the cashiers always help. In regards to being helped with the groceries to my vehicle....I except their help when I am having moderate/severe pain to my back or my arm, the rest of the time I'll do it myself and let the baggers help out others who need the assistance.
At the two stores I frequent, I usually have an army of baggers waiting to assist and even get several offers for help out to my car when I'm just buying a gallon of milk and a loaf of bread. They're a bit overly helpful there. But if I hit the store when it's especially busy, I'll definitely start bagging to keep the people behind me from having to wait for so long. I can't stand when someone's at the head of a long line and they won't lift a finger to help speed the process for everyone else.
HEB baggers go through an intense bagging program. Academics and physical training are part of the program they go through.
They don't all make it. So next time- leave a tip. Or bag it yourself..what's the big deal. If they got rid of baggers tomorrow...it wouldn't bother me.

Checkers check groceries. Shoppers buy groceries. Baggers bag groceries. I would never interrupt the flow of a grocery store universe. If I go to Winco (grocery warehouse), I like to take an able-bodied child. If said child is not available, I'll pay more at the store with bagging service and delivery to my trunk.
I try not to make a grocery run without at least one of my personal slaves--er, I mean children. They do an excellent job of unloading the grocery cart and if need be get bagging. They have been taught well by me---no bags with just one item in it!
I think the baggers at my HEB (281 & Evans) must bethe slow-learners of the program. No rhyme or reason to how they bag. I won't do it myself, but I will direct the entire process. Once again--no bags with just one item in them!

Who the wastes their time with a cashier and a bagger? Self-checkout is the greatest thing ever. The day I saw a self checkout station my life changed forever. No dealing with slow ass teenagers who can't figure out. Nowadays I won't even shop at a grocery store that doesn't have self-checkout.
The HEB baggers at bab & huebner are top notch![]()
If I could get to them in time I would bag as well. I try to organize the groceries as they are getting checked out in hope that they won't ruin something.![]()
I am a picky asshole too when it comes to my groceries, I admit it.![]()
I go to that HEB and have not been able to figure out who has trained them in bagging!! They must have overlooked that HEB during training schedule.
