My question is: Why do all these so called reporters and media alike morons always find fault in detroit and spurs style of play?I was reading an article about how the above mentioned teams have played out the team concept and the defensive concept and said it is getting old and boring and stated that todays new nba is about guys like lebron that nobody wanted to see a detroit vs spurs series and praised bron bron in his quest of ridding at least one boring team in detroit and went on to say if phoenix could have ridden the spurs the finals would be set....gee thats funny last time i checked between the spurs and pistons that equals 6 championships about to be 7..cleveland reporter by the way..lol

People always say that they want teams with the philosophies and ideals of teams like the San Antonio Spurs and New England Patriots. Most of them are lying.
Though they say otherwise, most people don't care about things like class, teamwork, work ethics, professionalism. They want dunks, fast breaks, no look passes, and bling bling. For the most part, the Spurs have none of those things. The Spurs represent the old guard of fundamentals, team play and intelligence. Players like Lebron James, Carmelo Anthony, Amare Stoudemire, etc. embody the lack of intelligence that surrounds the majority of today's basketball fan.
Most basketball fans don't look at the whole picture. They only look at the pretty orange ball in the flashy player's hands. They seem to have forgotten all the intagibles that are required in a championship basketball team. They forget about all the hard work, the lessons, the "almost there's", the "what ifs", the disappointments and close calls, the time it takes to build a truly dynastic team. Most people just want the quick fix, the flash in the pan, or any other cliché that means "win now!!!"
The typical fan doesn't care about last year or next year. They are only focused on the here and now, the new dog in the yard, or the next "big thing". It's not really their fault, though. It is what the sports media machine has instilled in most of us that what's important is the flash in the pan and not the elements that create the fire in the first place. Hacks like Stephen A. Smith try to beat it in to our heads that "THIS IS IMPORTANT BECAUSE I SAY IT IS!!!" And so many have had this beaten so viciously into their brains that they believe it.
A guy on TV says the Spurs are boring so millions believe it regardless of what they have or haven't seen with their own eyes. They don't actually watch the games or the players in them.
A frustrated player says Bruce Bowen is a dirty player and millions believe it based solely on the word of a hack or a 4 second video clip. They don't actually see the amount of work Bruce puts in to his game. They don't understand the determination it takes to be a truly great defender.
How can a Jazz fan call Bowen a dirty player and conveniently forget about players in their own team's history like Karl Malone and John Stockton? Why is it a Mavs fan will do the same only to forget about Jason Terry's blatant crotch punch to Michael Finley?
A media hack or a fan of another team says Manu Ginolbili is a flopper so the sheep automatically believe it. Ok, bad example. Manu does flop. But how many people actually watch more than a few clips and see the amount of hits, bumps and hacks the guy recieves in an average game?
How can a Suns fan call Manu a flopper and then conveniently forget about players on their own team?
People call Tim Duncan boring because he doesn't dunk the ball at every opportunity, flex his chest and scream like an animal. How many people actually see the strategy and determination of arguably the game's all-time best power forward? How many people see one of the greatest team player's that ever played the game?
It's easy to say you want your sports heroes to be classy, cool under pressure, and all around good guys. It's hard to watch those heroes use your teams as a stepping stone to yet another championship celebration year after year.
