You took out the urban street wear from players, the gold chains, the flashy tennis shoes, the below the knees shorts, smack talking, and all the emotions on the court.

I agree that some of that stuff does not belong in the NBA, but the truth to the matter is all that stuff sells.

Now they say the NBA is dead, with the lowest final rating in years.

    Don’t blame the Spurs.

If that stuff sells, then why is football doing so well?

The NBA made the bed they're in. They marketed individuals when they should have been marketing teams. They capitalized on it while they had Jordan, who was a great player who was good looking and was charismatic and willing to promote himself and the league. Now they have to pay the price for it until another Jordan comes along.

That's only in the states, though. They are doing great internationally which is why you don't hear the league complaining about the ratings.

T.O., Chad Johnson, Randy Moss, Shawn Merriman, Michael Vick are a few popular players of the league that can be an example to what he is talking about.

Also just because football is "America's game" so it'll always be liked regardless of the cir stances around it. Example: college football will likely smash the ratings of nearly any other sport except the NFL.

Exactly. "Lowest rated" is only here in the US. (In spite of that, I did notice that games 1 & 2 were the 10th and 12th highest rated shows of the week).

Globally, the total numbers are better than ever.
