Chiefs quarterback Trent Green has finally got his wish. He's now a former Chiefs quarterback.

The Miami Dolphins have agreed to trade a fifth-round pick in the 2008 draft — which could become a fourth-rounder depending on how much action Green sees for Miami in 2007 — in exchange for the veteran quarterback, FOXSports.com has learned.
The deal is contingent on Green passing a physical. He is scheduled to fly to Miami Tuesday evening to take that physical.

The Dolphins could have ended the protracted negotiations long before Tuesday, but had held out in the belief that the Chiefs would eventually cut Green.

The long-discussed deal finally got done when Chiefs brass informed the Dolphins a trade had to get done by today or else they would have kept Green on their roster for the 2007 season.

Green played in just eight games for the Chiefs in 2006 due to injury. He completed 61.1 percent of his passes for 1,342 yards, but threw for just seven touchdowns and nine interceptions.

    Good for him.

Seems like a class guy and he deserved better from the Chiefs, IMO.

    Good for Green!!!!

As a die hard Chiefs fan, I'll be sad to see him go. But I'm glad he gets the opportunity to continue his career as he wants.

And now the Chiefs can go on with the future of Croyle.

You really think Brodie Croyle is worth a damn? I have a Bama lovin' friend that thinks Brodie sucks...says that his release is too slow for an NFL qb.

I like the kid. Seems gutsy. I hope he works out.

It's over! The NFL has undergone a seismic shift in power!

What year are we on in the search for Marino's replacement?

eh' I don't know what to expect from Croyle. They say he has a great arm. Stronger than Youngs. In the College Allstar Skills Challenge, he got the ball 68 yrds downfield compared to Youngs 64. And he's supposed to be extremely accurate.

seems like a classy young kid with a great at ude too.

I am excited though to root for a young QB, and see him develop.

For years the Chiefs have used older veteran QB's:

    Green,Gannon,Bono,Montana,Kreig,Grbac & Deberg.

So Croyle is going to be a little refreshing! hopefully!

Too much bad blood between him and Brad Childress.

Daunte's career may be finished if the Dolphins were so eager to land Green.

But take a look at the Bama offense when Croyle was running it... what's a strong arm worth if you don't score TDs?

Dolphins | Draft pick asking price for Culpepper
    Thu, 7 Jun 2007 09:41:59 -0700

Greg Bedard, of the Palm Beach Post, reports the Miami Dolphins are looking for a late-round draft choice from a team willing to acquire QB Daunte Culpepper, according to a source.

Yea f-ing right, they would be lucky to get a 4th

If they get a 4th for Daunte I'd be pissed. Chiefs only got a 5th with a possible upgrade to 4th for Green.

Dolphins | Culpepper to block any trade
    Fri, 8 Jun 2007 10:35:56 -0700

Alex Marvez, of the Sun-Sentinel, reports Miami Dolphins QB Daunte Culpepper will refuse to restructure his contract, which would essentially block the team from trading him. Culpepper is set to earn $5.5 million in base salary in 2007. "They're going to do what's best for them. Obviously, I'm going to do in my opinion what's best for me," Culpepper said. "I'm going to work out every day I'm here and continue to get myself healthier and physically better the best way I can." Culpepper has been barred from practice with the exception of one-on-one drills.

He was escorted off the practice field by security. I dont think the Dolphins will get for him anyways. Better off just releasing him and avoiding problems.

Green is through, you could see it last year. I wouldn't expect better results with a worse team.

    Yeah that's true.

Maybe he would if he wasn't injured.

Last year he was coming off a horrific injury, he will be fine. I would venture to say that the Dolphins also have a better team than the Chiefs. The only thing the Chiefs have over them is LJ, besides that, the Phins are a much better team imo

He's coming off a horrific injury, a bad season, an offseason and by the beginning of next season, he will be a year older and in a new system that he was late getting into BTW. I don't know how his injury had anything to do with him taking something off the ball last season. His throws were late and he was missing. Some may attribute that to rust, but I don't think he missed enough football to get that rusty and I didn't see him get better as he got more time. I attribute it to being through.
