Is this a good pick??
Is this a good pick??
I really like this pick. Mobile 7' defender and rebounder with only 1 year left with Tau. Perfect big man alongside TD starting in '08.
Especially now that the 76ers took Koponen, that means either Green or Byers hopefully will be there at 33.
I guarantee you that there are about 250 people on this board right now who are asking the same thing
I think I will have to call him Master Splitter
...
whether he's a good pick or not.
The analysts said this guy would have been a lottery pick if he came out a couple years ago. When you pick at 28 and can add a player like this, it's pretty good.
I have a feeling by picking Splitter the Spurs are about to trade the rights to Scola. I have no idea what for, but it makes sense. A big that can come in next year after his contract is up.
he cant come next year, he has a 1 mil buyout, meaning his rookie pay scale wont be enough.
I think his tau contract goes crazy after that and the buyout is like scola high
500,000 from spurs + 450,00 means he would have to pay 10,000 dollars to play for the spurs
I really like this pick. He would have been a lottery pick last year.
Splitter is a decent pick - he was lottery caliber a couple years back. I don't know his buyout situation, I've heard everything from 800K - almost 3M. So I don't know if he'll be here next year.
Good One.

another pick that we will leave overseas![]()

are spurs picking him to make manu happy?
Decent. Athletic, mobile. Who knows if the Spurs will bring him over this year or next year though.
If he's available this summer, I wonder if this impacts Oberto at all?
pendejo!!
The Argentinean Mafia will now have to deal with the Brazilian Contingent...

I don't think he can be brought over this summer. I don't think he has an option to buyout his contract til summer 2008.
Splitters rookie deal will start out somewhere around $700-800k. If his buyout's on the lower side of reported figures (i.e., around $1 million) that may be manageable, depending on how badly he wants to play in the NBA.
Ah, well that answers that. Thank you.
That does set up some interesting scenarios for next summer though. Right now, the Spurs will have no bigs other than Duncan (and possibly Oberto) signed past next season. Even their draft picks feed into the theory of a 2008 plan.
I'm not sure though exactly. I have read like a bunch of different things on the issue.
I've read he has a huge buyout this summer and a $1M buyout next summer.
I've read he can't be bought out at all this summer and has a $1M buyout next summer.
Etc.
Hmmmmm...I'd like to say I have confidence that the Spurs wouldn't draft a player with a difficult buyout. But...well...nevermind.
