Fiery crash shuts Loop 410

An 18-wheeler collided with two cars around 2 p.m. on Loop 410 between Broadway and Nacogdoches, with the impact causing it to burst into flames and explode.
Police and firefighters were at the scene, and though the fire has been extinguished, a charred and wet mess littered Loop 410.
Traffic on eastbound Loop 410 was completely blocked, with drivers abandoning their vehicles and walking around. One witness said a vehicle turned right into the 18-wheeler, which is resting on its side, a heap of charred metal. The truck was not believed to be carrying hazardous materials.
Employees of nearby Chester's Hamburgers brought water to the stalled motorists. San Antonio District Fire Chief Tommy Thompson said no one was killed in the massive wreck. It was not immediately known what caused the 18-wheeler to flip, causing a 10-car pileup behind it. Five people were taken to area hospitals, all with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
"None of them were burned, which is another miracle as far as I'm concerned," Thompson said at the scene, which is a maze of construction zones. A thunderstorm was rolling in, and a steady rain fell upon those milling about.
Thompson said the "traffic nightmare" is not expected to improve any time soon, as all lanes of eastbound 410 will remain shut for at least another three hours.
About 30 emergency workers responded to the site, and the fire was quickly extinguished. Authorities are directing vehicles from the scene, but motorists remain mostly stuck in very slow-moving traffic.

I couldn't go to the bank and make the company's daily deposit because our bank is right off 410 and Broadway. pretty much exactly where that crash is. And I'm really not sure how or when I will be getting home now after work

My air condition repair guy got stuck in the traffic on that crash, and by the time he made it out, it was raining.It better not be raining tomorrow morning, I don't know how much more I can take being here without a/c.

At least it's not 90* + out. We had to replace our outside unit a few summers ago...luckily it was when we were having those floods, so it wasn't too hot.

No wonder Hildebrand and Broadway were a mess this afternoon.
It's been out since Sunday, and only two of those days have been cool, the two days it rained. The other days I have been in , and often had to go to my mom's for some respite from the heat.

that Chase bank you see in the pictures is the bank I go to almost daily for work. Thank god I was listening to the radio and heard something about it before I took off, or else i would have been stuck there for hours! lol
