You should be able to connect composite cables from the output of the DVR to the DVD Recorder input plus. Is there a "record to VCR" option on your DVR? It should work for the DVD recorder as well.
I bought a dvd recorder for my tv today but it will not record I keep getting an error message saying this program can not be recorded. I have tried hooking it up a million ways. My question is, can I hook it up to my Direct tv dvr and record?

so use the second set of outputs on the DVr and run them to the recorder?
TV's S-video out to DVD recorder's S-video in, duh.
i don't think he ordered sass.
S video is for video what about SOUND?![]()
component cable, duh.
If your equipment can do S-video, you know you need the two audio cables, also.
Sure, that should work. I know the 'record to VCR' function on my HDPVR works through output 2, though output 1 works as well.
As has been said use either S-video/red-white RCA cables or yellow/red/white RCA cables.
If your DVD recorder permits and the program fits on the DVD, record at higher bit rates for higher quality. Always record at the highest bit rate that fits on the DVD.
If you're going to bother spending time on recording video, why not get the highest quality?
