Should be a good game. Good luck to both teams! My prediction though is Brasil 2 - 0 Mexico

Look for Brasil to pull out three goals in the second half.

    Robinho
    Alex
    Diego

I think about 80% of the possession has been in Mexico's half.

Great saves by Ochoa and the Mexican defense.

You gotta think one of them will go in, right??

I'm starting to wonder if Brazil still has the heart to win anything anymore

How the does Castillo fail to score there ala Beasley in the Gold Cup final.

    Weak.

Beautiful run, crosses over the keeper, and misses the wide open shot.

    Didn't matter though.

Final Score: Mexico 2 Brasil 0

Spurologist, take into account Brasil isn't playing with their star lineup. This is not to say they didn't bring a good team, but they're not playing with their best

I know they are missing arguably the best two players in the world in Kaka, Ronaldinho and others, but they clearly had the talent to win. They had nice run of plays in the beginning of the first half and some in the 2nd but it looked like they were playing more for themselves.

It was basically Robinho trying to dribble the whole Mexican and trying to score and not much else. USA doesn't have even half the talent Brasil has but they play for each other and were able to beat the same Mexican team.

Plus Dunga made some bad subs utions in the game. Diego was proably one of Brasil's best players and then he gets pulled in the second half. The move didn't really pay off and it showed because Brasil couldn't really couldn't establish any rhythm with the sub. And when they starting playing well, it was too late. Adding game-changer Dannie Alvez was a good player to add to the game, but the sub came too late when the game was practically over.

But performance lies with the players, so I think it's OK to question their heart at this point. They can't simply just show up and expect to win games because they are Brasil.

no offense SAtown, but Mexico wasn't missing Kaka, Adriano, Ronaldo, Ronaldinho... get where I'm going with this?

Still, it was a decent win by Mexico, even though they suffered throughout the whole second half. Basically Mexico started strong in the first 45 minutes of play and then just decided to disappear for the rest of the game. Thank your lucky stars for this win bro, that and a monumental performance by your goalie.

this is true I suppose. Still, one can't just ignore the impact players like Kaka, Ronaldinho and Adriano can have on the game.

but I'm just talking scenarios now, Mexico won fairly. Great two goals I thought

The win can be placed squarely on the back line and specifically the keeper. He stopped some cannon shots from up close that by all rights should have gone in. The odds should have been with offense with so many clean powerful shots taken so close to goal. Mexico just made a of a stand.

However the decision to bunker down so early could have easily backfired as I am sure the majority would say that if you knew Brazil was going to have that many shots on goal at least one if not two goals should have been scored just based on percentages.
Mexico was definitely playing with fire by not keeping pressure on Brazil's defense.
It was a case where offensively, Brazil should have won. Mexico's defense was stellar and will probably be overlooked because the offense managed 2 clean goals. I'm still in awe of the movement of the ball by Brazil in the box and even more amazed at the keeper and his line's stops and deflections.
    It was a great game.

BTW Mexico's missing players in no way compare to Ronaldinho, Kaka, and Adriano...

But they are keys to Mexico's game, nonetheless...

Jared Borgetti (Mexico's all-time leading scorer)
Andres Guardado (the young phenom who will likely play in Europe next season)
Carlos Salcido (Champion with PSV Eindhoven in the Dutch League - and as good a defender as Rafael Márquez)
    Ricardo Osorio (another star defender)
Pavel Pardo (Both he and Osorio are Bundesliga Champions with VfB Stuttgart - On a side note Pardo came in 4th place in League MVP voting)
Giovanni Dos Santos (extremely talented '10' - only 18 years old - currently playing back up role for Ronaldinho on FC Barcelona squad in preparation for the 2007-2008 season).

Not to mention Cuauhtémoc Blanco or Adolfo Bautista didn't even play...

This was not México's A-Team by any stretch of the imagination.

The bright side is the fact that several new (younger) players got a chance to shine...

Francisco 'Memo' Ochoa whom I consider at this stage in his career a much better goal-keeper than Oswaldo Sanchez.
    Juan C. Cacho
    Jaime Correa
Israel Castro - the guy who threaded the nice volley for Nery Castillo's goal.
Luis Angel Landín - who wouldn't even be playing were not for the severity of the injury Borgetti sustained in the Copa de Oro Final vs. the U.S.

One final comment..... How in the world does Castillo miss that wide open goal at the end of the game????
