It's bad because it's bad...and in a bad way. not a good way.

How the do we lose to the team that lost to the China scrub team?
I know this league is not about wins but rather evaluating a few guys but come on, the Cavs team lost to a team lead by Wang Zhu Zhu, How sucky do you have to be to lose to the team that lost to China? Has China improved that much or are we just that bad?

It's one step below the Rucker League.
Blame our point guards.
What point guards?
Spurs summer league teams notoriously suck. I think in the five years that I have been watching, they may have won 3 games.
Good thing the Larry O'Brien trophy isn't handed out at the end of July![]()
That team with Stephen Jackson, Amal McCaskill and Ademola Okalaja had some decent players.
It seems like Charles (Spider) Smith was on that team in Utah back in 2001, also. TP played in one game.
There you go.![]()
We lose most of our pre-season games too.
As long as SPAM comes around every year I'm happy.
absense of duncan = not your normal spurs
plain n simple

seriously??
They should stick Duncan out there for summer league. I mean, he's supposed to be Mr. Humble-Nothing-Is-Below-Him-Lead-By-Example, right?
Not to mention no Manu, or Tony, or Bruce, or Rob, or Fabs, or Elson, or Barry, even BENO's not here!!!
Generally speaking I don't care that we lose but if the team sucks then that probably means that there is no one on said team worth inviting to training camp, nor is there a player that can contribute. I would like to think we have at lease one or two guys we can keep off that roster but right now I doubt we have that.
The summer league brings together players that haven't played together, putting them into an unfamiliar system. It shouldn't be too surprising that they don't play very well.
Very few of the non-contract smmer league guys ever get to the big show. They are there to help make up a roster. It's mostly a waste of time, so don't expect many of them to suddenly perform at NBA level and show up on a roster.
From what I've seen, the point guard frenetically runs past the timeline, dribbles around and throws up a brick. Then the PG on the other team frantically runs around, and throws up another brick. Once in awhile, one of those guys hits a shot. When they're double-teamed, they will sometimes pass to someone else, who then usually throws up a brick.
I'm trying to remember a Spurs summer league team that has ever done well. The Spurs (regular season) are generally known for being a veteran team and veterans don't typically play in summer league. The Clippers, however, are generally pretty good in summer leagues so take that for what you will.
Charles smith lol what the happened to him?
I'm glad none of the spurs starters are playing summer league. let them rest up for next year.
The last time a Spurs starter played summer league was Parker 2001 (and he technically wasn't a starter yet).
