I put this thread up so that we can discuss the Cup in general and not have to go to one of the game threads

Anyway, looks like the US is done. Doesn't surprise me though, the US came in with a team that didn't promise anything, and it goes out not having accomplished anything, simple math.

As far as the rest are concerned, Brasil, Mexico, Argentina, Paraguay, Venezuela and Peru are all qualified already.

He did play horrible...anyways good job Argentina, now you don't have to play Mexico, who wants to beat you with a passion and always will bring it against you...don't have to change locations and play an easier team Peru.

thats debatable. Peru is playing very well. Of course so is Mexico. Either way, we're going to have to beat everyone in order to win this thing, and if Mexico is as good as advertised we'll meet somewhere along the line.

4 - 0 now... this could end up being like 7 or 8 to 0 by the way Chile is playing. They deserve to be eliminated for playing this way

Couldn't catch the Mexico game, was it good? or did Paraguay just lay down and died? Looks like Mexico decimated them. Well done

Paraguay was doomed from the start, 2 minutes and they get a penalty, red card to the keeper, which it wasn't in my opinion...so yeah losing a good keeper and -1 guy was tough for Paraguay and it showed...but props to Mexico for taking opportunity of the hurted Paraguay..

Now Argentina vs Mexico, good match but I think Mexico will lose, but who knows, anything can happen in football!

which it wasn't in my opinion...
So if a goalie sweep-kicks the forward that is dribbling the ball one-on-one with him isn't a penalty? Did you see the goalie's leg kick upward during the foul?

    Marquez? ehhh..... no....

    heh

I think it's going to be 2-1 Mexico...

It's really a toss up really, but I can't go against my team...

    I say

Nery Castillo and Omar Bravo score for Mexico
    Messi for Argentina

I say Argentina 3 - 0 Mexico. I disagree its a toss up, I think Argentina is just now starting to play its best football. I think Mexico is good, but it won't be good enough. Good luck though

I don't watch that many Mexico games, that is true, but I've watched every Mexico game in this America Cup except for yesterdays 'cause I had to study. Anyway, I guess we'll see. I'm pretty confident though, I keep my 3 - 0 prediction

    True....

But they seemed invinsible yesterday... idk, maybe it's just me...

The way the chemistry's going right now with Nery and the other players, it's going to be really hard to keep em off the offensive...

we've also been the best defensive team in the cup... allowin just one goal in the 4 games...

Don't underestimate Mexico... you guys kinda did that in the World Cup and you almost left too early... took Argentina an amazing goal to get em to the next round... argueable the best goal of the cup...

but yeah I guess we'll see...

Actually if anything it's getting better...

They're getting younger..... and more athletic, and that's not saying much..

Borgetti is no longer starting and Omar is coming off the bench...
Hugo Sanchez assembled the team beautifully in my opinion... because he's benching old players that don't want to play... and putting in players that are giving it all on the field just for the flag..

and it's worked nicely... especially with Nery.... Omar Bravo, C. Blanco, and Borgetti have really not done much but gotten leftovers in this cup.... except Borgetti.. he hasn't really seen much playing time since he got injured.
