Bruce And Buddy Splish, Splash And Have A Blast

San Antonio Spurs forward Bruce Bowen and H-E-Buddy recently got in the pool – without floaties – at Spectrum Athletic Club at Rogers Ranch to teach children from the Boys & Girls Club about the importance of water safety and fitness.
During the event, Bowen and the staff educated the children about health and fitness utilizing fun aquatic activities. The activities included the Seahorse Race, Ping-Pong Scramble and Fill the Bucket Challenge. After the events were completed, the children had a chance to enjoy a healthy snack of mixed fresh fruit.

In its fourth year, the GET FIT program recognizes approximately 3,000 students for making sound choices about nutrition and fitness. Schools may nominate students so that they can be rewarded with Spurs tickets and other special prizes. Bruce Bowen created the idea for GET FIT during a public relations class that he completed at UTSA during the spring of 2004 and partnered with H-E-B to make the program a reality for the San Antonio youth.
