My brother in law came back in November from being in Iraq for a year. Hopefully he won't have to go again.
They're all in my thoughts and prayers.

Sometimes i think in all the other crap the media shows we forget about the troops we have overseas.
May they be taken care of...my neighbors son was just shipped out yesterday, to serve his 3rd active tour of duty in Iraq :| may he be safe...

A friend(whom I am dating)just told me he will be going to Iraq again (his 3rd) as soon as the end of this month....I hope he does not. If he goes...I hope he comes back in one piece. Say a prayer for all the members of the Armed Forces that are away, will be going away and the ones that are coming home.
The guy I am dating got official word this morning....he leaves on the 25th of this month for pre-deployment training...he is going back to Iraq for his 3rd tour.
I was hoping he didn't have to go....
Keep him and all the other Armed Forces in your prayers please.

If I wasn't smart and couldn't get into college, I'd probably join the army.

OK John Kerry. I know you're only 15 but that was a re statement. I was in the Marines '91-'95, there are plenty of intelligent people in the military many of whom attendend college but decided to serve their country rather than enter the corporate world. Think before you speak.
This was a great thread, but this was an ignorant and arrogant statement.
Let's not kid ourselves there are millions of NorCal's out there. A vast majority of our kids, but there are also kids who feel that serving their country is an honor, an obligation. These are the kids we are taking advantage in Iraq by sending them for 2nd and 3rd tours.
Shut up loser what have you done, besides post on the internet from you mom's basement.
I have to agree with Norcal as much as it pains me to say it. No reason to waste a perfectly good opportunity for school unless you just have some kind of undying need to serve your country.
I would serve... if our Commander in Chief could lead.
The oppotunity to go to college will always be there, the chance to serve your country will not. Joining the military doesn't mean an automatic Iraq/Afghanistan tour there are plenty of MOS's which allow you to work regular 40 hour weeks and go to college part time paid for by the taxpayers. It just depends on what your goals in life are, college isn't for everybody just like the military isn't for everybody.
