I don't think his 14pts 7rbs will be enough
but at least the Spurs got future cash consideration for him

I guess you figure ming or macgrady will be hurt enough for him to average 14 points a game
7 rebounds a game you must be dreaming
duncan will school scola
Scola is gonna do really good in the nba, I'll say his first season will be 16 pts / 6 rebounds.
and will drop 30 on the Spurs![]()
Rookie of the year? scola's gonna win MVP! /Spurs_Dynasty_21
hmmmm Scola getting any prize will hurt around, but ... perhaps TMac will win his first playoffs series
He'll probably get 18 and 10 and the Rockets win all 4 games against the Spurs this year and then he leads the Rockets past the Spurs in the second round.
Actually, John Hollinger stated that there's a fairly consistent trend when Euros come from overseas and play in the NBA. Their FG% drops about 10 points and their rebounding goes up about 25%.
So, Scola could conceivably get 6 to 7 RPG if he's given 25-30MPG.
And scoring has never been the problem with Scola....I'd say he could very well average 14PPG.
But....I don't know about ROY
Im so sick of all the Scola hype
Guy hasnt played a NBA game an hes going to average 14-16 points and 7-10 boards.
I personally think the guy aint gona be , and the Spurs are better off without him
And the Rockets are better off WITH him. Especially when all they had to give up was a SECOND ROUND PICK IN 2009!
it's funny how as soon as scola gets traded from the spurs his hype suddenly goes through the roof!
It's amazing how much worse the perception of a player's NBA prospects get when the Spurs no longer hold his rights.
First, you can't accuse me of downplaying Scola's talent...
Second, I think Scola is a much better fit in the Rockets' offense than in the Spurs' offense.
Yao is a naturally passive player that prefers to operate off the low block. And though McGrady is naturally aggressive, the presence of another scorer will take the pressure off of him to feel the NEED to score.
Scola fills a VERY big need for the Rockets, and he fills it potentially VERY well.
i wansn't talking about you specifically, i was just making an observation. it sucks that scola will never wear a spurs uniform but he should be in the nba and i'm at least happy for him that he'll get his shot
I never said the Spurs didnt get enough back. I hated this trade as far as what they got back and gave up. I just cant stand all this love for a guy that hasnt proven in the league yet.
Im more pissed about them trading Butler to be honest with you
I'm seriously pissed about them trading BOTH. I mean c'mon....they got rid of the ONLY two frontline players in the entire system (to include players that Spurs own right to) that have any semblence of a low-post game outside of Duncan. Yet, they re-sign a guy (Bonner) that at least for this year is duplicating the talent of another guy on the roster (Horry). I understand the deal was made for years beyond, but it's just unfortunate.
They also have decided to stick with Elson....which is beyond comprehension for me. This guy has one attribute...he runs fast. He occasionally finishes on the break, occasionally hits a 15-18ft shot, and occasionally blocks a shot...but I didn't think any of those things made up for his defensive miscues and IMO, they certainly didn't justify the Spurs FO trading Butler away to essentially give Elson ZERO compe ion at Center next season.
Bottom Line: I could see them giving up on one (especially if Scola never had any intention of signing with the Spurs), but I just can't believe they gave up on both, sent them to bolster an in-division playoff team, and got absolutely nothing in return.
I'll be the only logical fan here and say Scola will put 12 and 5.
scola will win because he will out hustle most post players in the NBA by far.
he will avg 18 and 10.......w/o a doubt...............remember its a 48min game.
Ridiculous
Remember, he wont play 48 minutes a game
no, but he will avg. more min than in europe. dip do the math.
He will also be playing against much better compe ion "dip ", but yet he will score more than guys like Dwight Howard, Shawn Marion and Shaq being probably the 4th or 5th option.
Right
it all comes down to the coach and how fast He gets used to the NBA and the American way of living.
Living in South Texas wont be that hard to get used to,and he already played the best of the best of NBA in international tournaments,So it all comes down to his coach. If he gets the playing time HeŽll be around the 15/7 this coming season.
To give you the perfect example, check what happened to Walter herrmann when he got some playing time last season.
Durant will be chucking too many shots his first season which will pretty much ensure his ppg is high enough to get roty, regardless of his fg%. Scola can't go around with 20 and 10 with tmac and yao right next to him.
Not to mention addind Mike James, Bonzi coming back, and drafting a point guard chucker in Brooks.
Im not saying the guy cant be good in the NBA, but some people here are making it seem like its a given that Scola will come in right away and put up 17 and 8.
Look at all the players that have come over from Argentina, not one jas come over and made an immediate impact, but yet Scola will be a monster on a team where hes probably not even going to get many shots.
I think 8 points and 4 rebounds is more realistic
