Sacha Baren Cohen. His various skits are genius.
Male. I truly appreciate great acting. Me?
#1. Don Cheadle (nuff said)
#2. Johhny Depp (okay, kinda gay but TELL ME there's some role this m/f hasn't mastered.

#3. Alfred Molina (kidz...Spiderman 2)
![]()
#4. Forest Whittaker (okay, maybe Oscar winners shouldn't be considered on an "underrated" list...but don't forget Fast Times at Ridgemont High!!!!!! CHARLES M/F'in JEFFERSON!!!)
#5. Sacha Baron Cohen (the guy can pull off ANY character...take him seriously or not...that er's so convincing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
Who do you thinks needs more recognition as an actor?
Sacha Baren Cohen. His various skits are genius.
#1, 2 and 4 are not underrated at all.
Ryan Gosling & Anthony Mackie....see Half Nelson.

She is not underrated within the business, but probably among the public:

I like character actors---the guy who isn't the star but whose character makes the movie better. Chris Cooper is very good, but my absolute favorite is Vincent d'Onofrio. He is the BEST! He is on the "Top 10 Worst Academy Award Disses" for "Full Metal Jacket".
benecio del toro
Guys who win Oscars or are nominated for them are not underrated...however probably overrated in the public eye. I guarantee more people know Linsdy Lohan for their acting gigs more than let's say Brian Cox (who's in almost every movie) or Liam Neeson, or a Tim Roth....
Where do you guys leave Keifer Sutherland? He is very good. I also think Dustin Hoffman is pretty good.
Jonny Depp is a gay pick, but damn he's a good actor. He was awesome in Donnie Brasco.
I would say Ryan Gosling, but he plays the same sympathetic character every movie.
Edward Norton!!
I can't stand Edward Norton, but he is underrated. I think.
If we're going by Academy nominations, Christian Bale is criminally underrated.
Viggo Mortenson is another one; his performance in A History of Violence was superb.
Paul Giamatti, William H. Macy are both guys that get overlooked often.
He made Mr. Brooks bearable. That is talent.
Samantha Morton, but she's got a couple noms
he did, but i found that movie hilarious anyway. techno gunfights, etc.
keifer is ok, not good imo. i don't think hoffman approaches underrated.
I didn't like Norton until Red Dragon. After that movie I realized how wide his range was.
my Chris Tucker
Chris Cooper and William H. Macy would top my list.
Colin Firth- in the movies
Sam Waterson and Wentworth Miller- on television
