That was a fake series with fake teams. The Bobcats weren't around, so they didn't have to deal with a team that did what it was supposed to do when they beat the Spurs.
Best Playoff Series this decade: Kings vs. Lakers, 2002 Western Conference Finals.
It's hard to pick a worst because there are so many. Lakers-Suns 2007 first round is definitely in that list. Most Eastern conference match-ups have been pretty horrendous, particularly those with LeBron James, Vince Carter, and Jason Kidd.

Best:
Lakers/Kings, WCF 2002
Suns/Lakers, 1st Rnd 2006;
Spurs/Mavs, WCSF 2006
Raptors/76ers, WCSF 2001
Worst:
LA/NJ, Finals 2002?
Nets/Cavs, 2nd round 2007
Best:
Any Bulls/Pistons, Pistons/Celtics, Lakers/Celtics series from the 80s.
Worst: Usually any series involving the Pacers or Nets.
EDIT: Missed the (this decade) part for the best. The worst still stands.
Act like this post isn't here.
Best/Worst Playoff Series this Decade
The horrendous West series of this decade also include the Lakers and Nets from 2002 Finals, almost forgot about that. Lakers-Suns 2007 and Lakers-Nets 2002 should be erased from NBA history for being so horrific.
How about the Cavs-Wizards series from 2007? THAT was garbage. Raptors Nets 2007 too. These series were so bad that they had to put them on NBA TV where nobody really watches.
Of the 00's:
My top 3 of the 00's are:
1. Lakers/Blazers 2000 WCF
2. Lakers/Kings 2002 WCF
3. Spurs/Mavericks 2006 WCSF
To pick the worst 3? That's impossible, with how many truly horrible eastern conference series there have been in the last 10 years. Cleveland-Washington? Detroit-Orlando? Toronto-NJ? God, those were just this year.![]()
Suprised no one liked the pistons/spurs in 05. Sure, there were some blowouts. But finals dont go into the fourth quarter of game seven at a complete tie very often. Games 5 and seven were enough to make that one my fav.
I really did love that Spurs/Pistons 05 series but Spurs/Mavs 06 hands down takes the cake. That was just playoff gold.
Best: mavs/spurs 06
Worst: Since it's so easy to pick one from the east, I'll go with the Grizz/Mavs 06. Only time the Mavs weren't in the drivers seat was in game 3 in Memphis when Dirk hit a 3 to send it to overtime. (I was there)
I'll go with PHX/DAL when Dirk dropped 50 also.
Well, the best series are usually the unpredictable ones. Golden State over Dallas was pretty much expected as they were the favorites in the series. That series was good for the explosive and exciting play of GS.
I liked the Mavs/Spurs better because the Spurs were the favorites.
That series, while highly satisfying to watch for anyone who hates the Mavericks as much as I do, wasn't at all compe ive. It was far more lopsided than the 4-2 W/L record for Golden State indicates.
Yeah, one of the Dallas wins came when Baron Davis AND Stephen Jackson were ejected.
The other one happened when GS led 112-103 in the closing minutes, Dirk threw up a few lucky threes and got a lucky win.
Yeah, Duncan was fouled at the end of regulation in Game 7, no foul call. Typical pro-Dallas behavior by referees. Spurs were supposed to win Game 7.
That one's my pick. There's a thing or two about it that could have been better, but still......damn.
You know what else is typical? Bad ass drumming during Josh Daniels Band gigs.
If duncan wouldnt have gotten so many calls all game, the spurs wouldnt have even been in position for that so called foul to even matter
So go tell the drummer for that band that.
Spurs/Pistons tops Spurs/Mavs. The Spurs/Pistons had more in that series. Both were proving champions who decided the last 2 les prior to that series and were going head to head in the series that would decide the champion. Spurs/mavs could of been 1st if the Mavs had gone on to win the le.![]()
