Slow news day. There really isn't much of substance one can ask Horry in the preseason.
Spotlight on ... the future
http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/rumors/p...?urn=nba,48741
San Antonio Spurs forward Robert Horry is back for a 16th season. It seems like 26 seasons. And just like the last three or four years, he says this will be his last, although even Horry doesn't necessarily believe himself.
"If somebody wants to pay me for a couple more years, you never know," he said.
Horry has won seven championships – three with the Los Angeles Lakers, two with Houston and two with the Spurs. Curious minds are wondering if he might like to finish his career with the Mavericks, making him one of the few players in NBA history who have played for all three Texas teams.
"I thought about that," Horry said. "That would be good. I'd come up here next year, give you a good two years, win a championship here and call it quits."
He'd get no complaints from the Mavericks, considering they tried to sign Horry a couple of years ago, when he was a free agent. By the way, the players who have suited up for all three Texas teams are Mark Bryant, Chucky Brown, Vernon Maxwell, David Wood and Avery Johnson.

You got to be kidding me.
Also Horry is best paired-up with a dominating big man in the middle. Mavs don't have any.

By then Horry might actually be washed up.
he might even play for the spurs if they offer money for 2 more years.......
He's still lacking a Euroleague Championship and Olympic Gold medal.
Those accomplishments would be more impressive than playing in all three Texas NBA cities.
If horry decides to play anywhere after this season - it better be with the Spurs!
Robert: What can I do for you?
Chickenowitzki: I need a ring!!!![]()
He could only play with team like Rocket that have Yao or Spurs that have Duncan. What good he do for Dallas?
Id give Horry money to keep playing after this year.
Who you gonna find thats better?
No one.
i thought horry hates the mavs.....during the 2006 finals, he said that it was the first time that he wanted the eastern conference team to win.
I saw this story last night on Hoopshype. It doesn't sound like there is much to it.
He's not playing for no stinkin' Mavs. He'll retire after this season... with 8.
So nobody else that's available will be better than Horry?
Nobody?
That's the most ridiculous statement I've ever read.
Sounds like a fishing expedition for another contract from SA. It actually takes the right kind of coach to put up with his "I don't want to exert myself" at ude from Nov to Apr, yet play him anyway so that he's in playoff condition. You have to give him minutes, even if he's sucking and loafing so that when "Horry time" arrives, he's in playing condition.
Waiting for whottt to respond to this . . .![]()
Imagine if a player not named Robert Horry talked about going to the Mavs while still in uniform for the Spurs. whottt would be having a meltdown of epic proportions.
I say keep bringing him back for the vet min till he retires. He's always going to have the shot, and he can do anything.
I doubt he hates the Mavs...he's good friends with Mario Elie, and probably AJ as well....
They go back to the Rocket Days....Kenny Smith, Elie etc...
I think their nick name was AJ and the 7 clutch.
Exactly...
I translate what Horry said to:
"If anyone is going to give me a couple million per year to coast until the playoffs, why should I retire?"
Can't really blame him for that take.
I'd say it's a bad idea to let Horry go to any team we have a hard time beating.
He only needs to make one shot.........
I have a feeling Pop will keep bringing him back as long as he wants to keep coming back...
He can block a couple shots, he can hit the 3 from the bigman position...
And he can do the Massenburg/Willis dirty work...
And he's probably got the best basketball mind on the team, and that includes out of the coaching staff.
Pop would have brought Kerr and Ferry back too...
I think Willis was actually the first old big that got too old for Pop.
Or the regular season.
I don't really see Horry playing after this season but who knows.
