That's true. Right before Christmas here in San Antonio, some guy got pissed because his estranged wife wouldn't talk to him, so he decided to kill his kids by gunshots to their heads. Only then did he decide to take his own life -- too fearful, one suspects, of facing the real consequences of his sick and selfish actions.

There's a larger rant here somewhere -- and this probably isn't the appropriate place for it -- but it makes me sad that we live in a world that offers such prosperity for so many and, yet, at the same time, has significantly devalued (in some, at least) human life.
