Twas the eve 'fore the season and all through the land,
the people were rejoicing – Beno finally got canned.
The boys are ready for a sight to behold –
19,000 and a trophy of gold.
The rings will be given; the fans, they will cheer.
As the banner is unveiled, some may shed a tear.
The road begins again; a new season's dawn.
Did I happen to mention that Beno is gone?
The ball will be tipped and we'll hear Pop sing,
"Last year's championship don't mean a thing."
A new foe looms.
Every game, he'll attack.
He's the Even-Year Monkey that sits on our back.
A chance to repeat and again taste the riches,
when we can say once again, "Suck it, es!"
A toast to the 2007-2008 Spurs – familiar faces, some new.
