Looks like you guys let go of a guy who could seriously help in the playoffs.![]()
Against Dallas tonight, Scola had 2 points, 2 assists, and 0 rebounds (that's right, zero rebounds) in 25 minutes of action. How in the did we ever let a guy like that get away? And how can we possibly contend for a championship without him? I think the fans should get together and buy the Spurs franchise like in Green Bay Packers, because it's obvious the current team management doesn't know what they are doing.

Yeh, well somehow I bet we manage not to go out in the first round against Golden State.
Why are you even here? Is Cuban too depressed to update his blog after Dancing With the Stars?

How did Manu start?
rookie season--started 5 games and
He spent much of the early season injured, and found it hard to adjust to the NBA's style of play.
It is going to take a while for scola to get used to the league, but if he keeps playing this awful there wont be any minutes left cause he's at the end of the bench.
He definitely sucks on D, but that was to be expected. The fact that he isn't being effectively used on offense just tells me that Adelman is not in control of this team. They still won't get past the first round. No discipline.
And I'm going to say right now that even if Adelman was, Scola'd still be getting owned on the offensive end....even when he does get the ball, his moves just don't work as effectively against NBA defense...plus he's slow.
The way to use him is the same way Oberto is used...wait till the other team forgets about him. Difference is that Oberto doesn't suck on D as badly as Scola. Oberto knows how to be effective without the ball...Scola really doesn't. It's definitely not his strong suit.
As for Adelman...
I'd argue about whether or not he's ever in control of his teams...but if you mean getting them to play offense the way he likes...it'll take some time, they'll be a different team at the end of the season than they are now.
#1. They'll whine about the officiating a whole lot more than they do now.
#2. They'll be a better passing and shooting team.
But he still won't be in control of them that much...
just wait till Francis works his way into the lineup.
The problem with the Rockets....the personnel don't fit...still.
They need to trade Yao...because he's the oddball on the team...instead he's one of the main focal points.
Scola is new to the NBA, sure. But ZERO rebounds in 25 minutes? Was he on the 3pt line the whole freakin' game?
Watch the games. None of the Rockets even look for him. He is still lost out thre. I'm sure he'll be more productive a couple months from now.
TMac drives to basket, if that doesn't work he passes out to wing, the wing player s around with the ball...every once in a while Yao gets the ball. I'm not a scola lover but the team itself still has a ways to go before the playoffs.
Scola should have gotten more rebounds even if he gets zero pts. He had a bad game against the Mavs. He often rotated off his man and left the guy wide open. That last defensive lapse when he left Stackhouse wide open was inexcusible. He needs to learn the rotations and to stick to his man better. In this league it's man to man for the most part. He left his guy and ran all the way to the other side leaving stackhouse wide open. ughh.
I hate to tell you this...but he doesn't play D...ever, anywhere. He doesn't even play it in the Euroleagues where it's easy to play it....
Better figure out how much that 12ppg on 43% shooting from an interior scorer is worth to you....
Kevin Durant is new to the NBA too...and he just turned 20 or something, how come he doesn't need an excuse?
Scola's offense should be ahead of the curve right now...he's got the advantage because his moveset is extremely polished...the fact that he's getting multiple shots stuffed back into his face per game by defenders who don't even know his game, and aren't even that great of defenders...should tell you, he's a of a long way from Spain now....
And he's not going to get anymore polished than he already is....he's about maxed out there.
i was going to answer, but then i remembered that this is just whottt's shtick (sp?).
you're right whottt, durant has played just as well as college (and he doesnt need an excuse, besides, he's 20!), whereas scola is playing worse than ever and is doomed to failure. maxed out, for sure.
I read the stat line this morning and chalk it up as a bad game.
BTW, I am not a Scola lover. I like the fact that the Spurs traded him because it ended all those threads in the Spurs forum about the Spurs not wanting him. I think he is a solid player and will do well, but he isn't going to be great. I may be wrong. However, last night was just a bad game.
Zero rebounds in 25 minutes. Looks like an Eddy Curry line...
