tetris pwns all.
I get my 360 back from being repaired tomorrow or Friday, and I can't decide which game to get first. Three Half Lifes and and a Portal game that looks great too, vs an Infinity Ward COD. I'm not into MP and COD4 Single player is supposed to be short, but the video of it looks ridiculous.
get orange box for the PC and jump in some tf2 with enigma, cry havoc and i. say no to fps on consoles!
If you aren't into MP then get the Orange Box, it's a no brainer.
However, you are missing out on a bunch with both games, TF2 and COD4 MP...
CoD4 MP is the best there is right now - it's just the right pace, with unlocks as you gain ranks. I'm currently up to lvl 25 after about 6 hours total - crazy fun and the firefights are very intense. It's getting 9.5's and higher - and while I enjoy TF2, CoD4 is much more fun.
You might want to make a small note that The Orange Box is far more than TF2.
Half-Life 2 is considered by many magazines to be the greatest game of all time, if not, at least the greatest action-adventure/FPS game of all time.
Episode 1, while not as well received, still got rated in the 8.5-9 range.
Episode 2 is being given 9+ as well.
Team Fortress 2 might go down as the multiplayer game of the year, and is a worthy compe or to COD4 by itself.
And Portal is just freaking awesome.
This is really no contest. COD4 is a fantastic game, but The Orange Box is the greatest deal in the HISTORY of videogames. That says a of a lot about the product.
For the record, I plan to own both of them. But if I had one choice, it's no contest. The Orange Box (if allowed) is going to run away with the Game of the Year awards this year, if you can really consider it one game.
Just get both, dude. Get one now and ask for the other for Christmas.

i have heard positive things about the orange box...
Just save your pennies and grap both. Both are must play.
Or, you can do like I did and buy Orange Box and get COD4 from Game Fly or whoever else and beat it in a few days.
I guess I didn't make myself clear - he's asking about a 360. There's no way in I'd recommend someone get the Orange Box on the 360 ... the experience is killed. He needs to get it for PC, or just play CoD4!
Is TF2 that good? Hows the learning curve?
TF2 on the pc is awesome - it definitely captures the spirit of the original, which team fortress classic did not. you can have fun regardless of skill level, but you gotta work with your team to win.
Pretty cool - Maybe i'll pick up an orange box.
Of course I'm eventually getting both, but I'm not going to be playing them at the same time, lol. I definitely won't be getting either for PC. I hate PC gaming, as a gaming machine is so much more expensive to build than just buying a console, and so many PC games are ty ports from the 360/PS3 versions.
Extremely smooth. Since it's a lot of rock-paper-scissors, the game rewards smart play as much as "I've done this a thousand times more than you".
Doesn't matter who you are, if a scout runs at you and you're holding a flamethrower, you're going to get a kill.
Several classes are very straight-forward. The soldier, for instance, is extremely easy to use. Just learn the step out step back maneuver so that you can pop out of a doorway and fire a rocket before a sentry gun can peg you.
There are a thousand little intuitive things that you'll pick up after about a week of playing. When all else fails -- be a medic. Healing is easy with the wicked health hose, and you'll learn the other classes by watching. Plus, everyone loves a medic.
It really is insane to watch the classes interact with each other. Nothing like seeing a group of soldiers and demomen from the other team swarm in and get laid to waste by a single heavy with a medic in support.
i ditched my wireless mouse since i started playing games again, thank god. the demoman is quite easy to use now.
and half of them don't go after the medic first! what i'm really pleased with is the quality of most of the maps. a good amount of them are extremely balanced, and those that aren't require a good team effort.Nothing like seeing a group of soldiers and demomen from the other team swarm in and get laid to waste by a single heavy with a medic in support.
Have you played any of the HL2s yet? If not, you might wanna start with their 20+ Hours of SP gameplay with a great storyline first. Not to mention TF2 multiplayer gameplay.
Guess it depends how much you value SP vs MP. I'm pretty sure I'm almost done the SP campaign for COD4 but I probably won't touch MP till X-mas break in a month or so.
I don't play a lot of MP; it's way too time consuming. The only time I ever played lots of MP was during a couple of very slow months when I worked at Activision, where our whole office would play COD2 and COD3 MP half the workday.
Amen Brother!
I also vote ...both.
However if you are not into the MP side then, The Orange Box is a no-brainer.
CoD4 SP can be completed in ~6-8 hours, so I've read.
The multiplayer on both is awesome...especially if you can find a good group of players who communicate.
I'm juggling both right now. ...however with CoD4 taking most of my time right now.
Although I am going through Ravenholm without firing a single bullet thus far(going for the 1 bullet achievement).
p.s. I have nothing against pc gaming(I spent countless hours on RTCW) but I do get a kick out of the "pc gamers" who seem offended by console games. It must be the radiation from staring at a screen 2 feet away while sitting in an uncomfortable position.![]()

The Legend of Zelda.
We could seriously be looking at 4 of the greatest FPS games of all time released within a couple months of each other.
Bioshock, Crysis, CoD4, and TF2. That's not even counting Mass Effect or Halo 3. Wow.
I'd say get The Orange Box first. I've actually only played 3 games consistenly online in my life: CS, Winning Eleven 2007 and NBA 2K6. I'm hoping to get into Halo 3, TF2 and COD4 this winter.
But no doubt, HL2 will engage you for a while.
Don't say that word, you made my laptop flinch![]()
