Ian has a nice FT shot too.
Whatever TD is doing to improve his FT% seems to be working - for now. He seems to put a bit more arc on the shot and the softer shot makes for a friendlier bounce more likely than not. He still seems to take a lot of time staring at the rim before going though his motion but the shot itself looks good. Of course, it remains to be seen if he can maintainthis under pressure.

yeah, he started off great last season too, but eventually the law-of-averages kicks in.You're right though, he looks good so far.
Tim really wants to repeat, he's not indifferent with his FT shooting now perhaps.
I noticed his new technique in the first game. He holds the ball VERY low, which forces him to draw it up close to his body, and makes it almost impossible for him to "push" the shot out away from him, and leave it short. The natural motion is to continue the course of the ball, which is up, and that puts more arc on the shot.
I doubt he's ever going to shoot 85%, but he was at 70% before tonight, and made 6-6.
Agree, which makes me think that developing a reliable jumpshot is not so far behind.
And on Timmy....this always happens. With him it's a confidence thing. He'll go through his usual swings and I don't think his problems at the line will ever really be cured.
I don't know. This new motion is SO simple and repeatable, we may see 75-80%. It's almost mechanical, something like a catapult. There's also nowhere where he pauses or stops once the motion starts. It's a smooth arc, like a spiral.
Tim's been pounding Jacob Riis' rock for FTs for 10 years. Maybe this is where it cracks. I'd be real proud of him if that were the case. He never gave up like Shaq did, content to slip into the morass of Dudley-esque FT percentages.
Tim in his MVP years were making FT in high 70+ %, right ? Yeah, technique plays a big role in FT shooting, but i think he was pretty decent back then because of plenty of FT opportunity as the Spurs main scorer. It's no coincidence his FT shooting started to drop while the Spurs make a transition from a single superstar team into three amigos team. Now, with lesser FT opportunity, he works his FT technique, hopefully to a good, lasting result.
I'm skeptical. Seems similar to previous years. He'll start making em' when he starts making em'. I've learned to deal with the rollercoaster known as Tim Duncan- From The Line.
I have a feeling Chip has him doing some sort of mantra or breathing exercise, because it's the same length of pause each time. I find I shoot FTs much better if I exhale as I'm shooting.
I hope Timmy can conquer the FT demon this year.

Its just funny the way he seems to attempt a mind-meld with the ball then seemingly trying to intimidate the ring with his stare.. can't argue with the results though.. the shots were clean, hardly drawing iron inmost instances
68% over 10 years. Every one Tim makes is a bonus.

What, Chip can only work on one player at a time?
TD's percentage is 72% so far this year, but Parkers is 63%....that really sucks.
