It's never too soon to start vicious rumors that will destroy your superiors and open up promotion opportunities.
Started a new job today.
I've caught up on all the university-wide required trainings (EEO, sexual harassment, protect confidential data, etc). I've signed up for all the trainings I have to complete in the next 10 days before I go on vacation, but I can't take them before tomorrow.
I've ordered the supplies I need (uh, binders. that's it. I came over fully stocked).
I've ordered new business cards.
I've met everyone under the sun that I could possible work with.
I've got my desk and desktop in order.
Now, I am boooorrrreeeddddd.

Eh, I think I'll wait until I least know how to do vouchers. Otherwise, they'll just hire someone else, and my dream of an office with a door that closes will still be two years in the future.
Oh, good news though - that smell? Caused by a storm drain with a dead rat overflowing. So, there you go.
Well then I learned something new today. Wet, dead rat smells incredibly like human excrement. I hope the rest of you guys are taking notes out there, because these are the sorts of things your parents and teachers just don't tell you.
Get a room, you two!!![]()
Cause nothing says romance quite like a dead rat.

Ya'll are getting S y all hot with that dead rat talk.
Dad's rat!
Are you working at my university?
That place aint big enough for the both of us.
Unless we're on top of each other, that is.
I'm pretty sure they both work at UH.
Congrats on the new job Easjer!![]()
I haven't had time to be bored in a long ass time.
Spurfect - I've just switched from student services to the administrative side and have to train on all the financial and HR systems. Basically, I'm in a (roughly) 2 year on the job training program this college created. I work in the main office for the college and they teach me the entire job and then in 2 years (or so), they'll promote me to a better paying version of this job out elsewhere in the university. And since they are paying me a huge chunk more than my old job for training, it's a pretty great deal for me.
peewee, where are you? I seriously thought you were like, 16.
Thanks, Angel! It was a change badly needed, and now that I'm past the first day, it'll be easier. The decision between this and another job and then the time between decision and leaving was so tough. I second and third and fourth guessed it and as of this morning wanted to go back to my old job. I hated leaving my coworkers. Management sucked and future prospects sucked, but it was hard! Glad I did it though - once things pick up, it's going to be a good move for me.
Sorry to hear that, hope things clear up soon. I've been bored too long now.
Change is a trip, isn't it?
Here's hoping everything turns out to be awesome for you.![]()
Thanks - it will be. This job opens up so many possibilities for me in the future. If I stay with the university, then in 2 years I will be in a midsized department two pay grades up from where I am now, and after that, there are a lot of different directions I can move in. If I decide to leave the university, then I'm in a really good position, having gotten a whole lot of experience you normally have to pay for in education costs.
But since I hate change, it was tough to do. It'll get easier from this point on, though will probably remain pretty boring until I've finished the 30 some odd trainings I have to take in the next 6 weeks. . .![]()
Easjer or SFIE - if you guys want a new job, my company is hiring quite a bit. As long as you don't mind working with numbers, I think it'll net you just a bit more than 32k/year. PM if you're interested!
Quoted for laughs.
I'm going to guess he's at UTSA or Trinity...
Thanks for thinking of me! I'm over that line thanks to this new job. I'll leave SFIE to tell you how he feels about numbers, since I've no idea.
These numbers you speak of are strange and frightening creations.
I do appreciate the heads up on the opportunity but I'm set for the moment.
I think that's a little too late![]()
