"...Another source said the Nets were planning on — if not already — talking to Dallas, the Lakers and perhaps Cleveland about a trade. Kidd nearly was traded to the Lakers last February..."

    Bring Jason Kidd back home!

Harris, Dampier, & Hassell for Kidd works. Do the Mavs do it? Do the Nets?

^If I were the Mavs, I'd try and keep Harris over Terry any day of the week.

Jason's gonna go to Cavs. Dallas doesn't have the pieces and wouldn't trade Harris. Lakers wouldn't trade Bynum. Cavs managament would do anything for LeBron.

I liked the part where Kidd expressed that he wants to play for the Cavs.

I'd rather Kidd go to the Cavs just to pose a threat to the Celtics.

If Lebron can take that sorry Cavs team last season to the finals, imagine what he can do in the East with Jason Kidd? That'd be a great deal for them. I can't imagine who they would give up though that the Nets would want....

Only person worth a crap on the Cavs is Lebron. Who would they trade to get Kidd? Kidd could beat the Cavs by himself minus Lebron. One on five. Kidd 67 Cavs 45.

Kidd makes almost $20 million. Good luck finding a trade partner. Same problem with trading Kobe. Nearly impossible to match salaries, can't get equal value, and even if a team comes close, that team is gutted in order to get that player.

I dont know about it money-wise but

    Gibson-Pavlovic-Varejao-Gooden would probably make it.

I think Kidd on the Cavs makes the most sense for the Cavs, but doubt they have the pieces to do it. Maybe Gooden, Gibson, and someone else. I have no idea. That would be a good squad though. Kidd and LeBron would be very good together.

Would be close, might have to add Ira Newble's expiring contract. But, then the Cavs have no power forwards. And, Zydrunas' game wouldn't exactly mesh with Kidd-LeBron.

Varejao can't be traded for 90 days which I think puts him out of the picture. LeBron is pretty much the point guard for the Cavs, to be successful he needs to handle the ball. I don't see how he and Jason can make it work.

The Nets say Kidd was sick.

    http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/200....ap/index.html

    Nets: Kidd wasn't 'on strike'
Team says his missing game was result of being sick

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) -- Jason Kidd was sick -- not "on strike" -- when the eight-time All Star missed New Jersey's game against the New York Knicks, Nets president Rod Thorn said Thursday.

Thorn said did not believe reports in newspapers and on the Internet that Kidd boycotted the game to force the team to give him a new contract or trade him.

"He was sick," Thorn said in a telephone interview with The Associated Press, adding that he spoke with Kidd on Thursday morning. "He was very hurt about some of things in some of the articles and he plans to address it."

Kidd scheduled a news conference later Thursday at team headquarters.

Thorn said Kidd sent a text message to trainer Tim Walsh around noon Wednesday, informing him that he had a migraine and would get back to him later in the day.

At around 4 p.m. -- 31/2 hours before Wednesday's game the Knicks won 100-93 -- Kidd sent a second text message telling Walsh he would not be able to play, Thorn said.

"I think that raised some su ions," Thorn said, adding that he doubted Kidd would desert his teammates to make a personal point. "He has played with so many injuries over the course of his time with us that some people think he's an automaton."

The New York Post quoted a team source as saying: "He's on strike."

Kidd, who played last season with a cracked rib and sore back, was the subject of rumors at the trading deadline in February, with the speculation that he would be shipped to the Lakers.

The 13-year veteran is currently second in the league to Steve Nash, averaging 10.4 assists. The point guard is tied for 21st, averaging 8.7 rebounds and 18th with an average of 1.67 steals.

Kidd is under contract through the end of next season, making $19.7 million this year and $21.3 million next.

The Nets had high hopes they would be able to challenge the revamped Boston Celtics in the Atlantic Division this season. However, they are 9-10 in a frustrating season that has seen center Nenad Krstic struggle returning from major knee surgery and Vince Carter miss five games with a sprained ankle. The Nets lost all five games.
