dirk is a weapon?
I keep reading rumors about Kidd going to Dallas.
Any thoughts about how Kidd going to the Mavs would change how the Spurs-Mavs match up? If it takes just Harris + expiring contract, that would be pretty scary. Kidd with all those weapons. If it's Howard + expiring contract, I'm a lot less worried. If it take both Mavs would be crazy and I'd be very happy.
People say Parker gives Kidd problems but the groper still seems to be a pretty good defensive guard, even though he's probably lost a step.
Kidd couldn't guard him at all in the finals. If they trade Harris for him they will have no one to keep up with Tony.
Really? I thought in the 2003 Finals, Parker got off to a great start but by the middle and end of the series he had tailed off quite a bit. I even remember Speedy Claxton being the more effective of the two in a lot of the game, especially game 6.
Yea, he did tail off. Quite a bit. He was pretty much garbage in games 4 and 6, and wasn't anything special in game 5 either.
At the same time, he has gotten better since, and Kidd has only gotten older.
"We're going to turn this team around 360 degrees." -Jason Kidd
I'm not even sure Harris can keep up with Tony. Probably much better than Kidd could, but still, Tony Parker is going to penetrate no matter who's guarding him.
I guess they just have to decide if the negative loss in defense would outweigh the positive effects Kidd would have on offense. I personally don't think it would, specifically when your talking about the seemingly lost cause of trying to contain Tony Parker. I say they should go get him.
I think this is about as likely as Kobe being a Maverick.
This trade will never happen. Here's what Hollinger thinks of Kidd's defense -
I like the idea of bringing him here but it will take Howard to do it. There's no way they do a trade involving Howard, nor should they. The coaches apparently intend to keep voting Kidd first-team All-Defense until he's 90, but he struggles to keep quicker guards in front of him. Where he excels is when he can switch onto a shooting guard and chase him through screens. He's also as good as you'll see at bothering low-post players without committing to a double-team, enabling him to get back to his man quickly.
the only thing devin harris can do is keep up with parker...he's pretty much worthless the rest of the time
That's because Speedy was actually being guarded by Kidd.
Parker wasn't.
Did you guys watch the series?
He's been up and down, but he held his own tonight against Nash. Not saying he's near Nash's equal, but it's no surprise the Suns started having success with the p'n'r once Devin sat out in crunch time.
kidd is overrated....
he is a offensive liability imo....all you gotto do is block the passing lanes, and play man2man defense or dare him to shoot out of his n range.....
