really trying to teach myself guitar, not getting very far though.
I know I've asked this a couple times before, but there are a bunch of new people in here, so....
Who here plays an insrtument on a regular basis?
really trying to teach myself guitar, not getting very far though.
What kind of guitar are you learning with?
I can play the drums. I'm almost decent at it; I wish I had more time to practice.![]()
TPark plays the skin flute...he is a virtuoso

My daughter sings and takes voice lessons. Also she tooks up the guitar about five months ago. She started lessons then too. She's getting pretty good. She practices every day and loves it. We started her out on an acoustic Squier by Fender but told her if she kept with it then we would get her an electric guitar after one year. We did have to change out the strings for better ones and put a different fret(sp?) on it. We made her pay for half of the guitar so that she would have some idea of the investment and maybe take it more seriously. It seems to have worked. She even plays it while she chatting online with her friends. She types and strums, types and strums.

Guitar..... My neighbor and I jam all the time.. He has everything, PA, Drums, Mics, Bass, Guitars, keyboards, the whole works...
ing come over...
sheyitt.
Dude, it's ing on. When?
That's awesome! I want to take voice lessons because while I can carry a tune I sing out of my nose way too much, and I want to get a professional to help me with it.
If she's a singer, see if she'd rather get a more expensive acoustic. The better ones are much easier to play and they sound GOLDEN.
dude went out of town for the next few days, just come over on the weekend... usually in the evening. We live off of Potranco and 151
Be careful now Manny, he might try to anal rape you.
?
Where did that come from?
I live right down the road on Marbach, and that sounds kick ass.
I 've played guitar since I was a kid and I started studying piano five years ago.
I tell you, the guitar was a much more smoother ride; but maybe when you get older your brain starts to freeze and things gets more difficult.
(I initially wrote the previous sentence ending in "...and everything gets harder", but it seems that I was framing myself for the easy joke)
I can play guitar
both the accoustic and electric. i'm ok, i'm not Angus Young though![]()
I'm learning the acoustic live version of Hotel California. It's pretty easy on some parts....I got almost all of the first part down. Now I just gotta work on the long solos.
I used to have a future in music... but at the present, its all in the past.
That intro is killer, are you playing it on nylon or steel?
I want to learn Piano, but I also want a violin, I'm torn but I'll probably go with violin because of the expense involved with buying a piano.
The Squier is just a starter for her. Now that we know she'll stick with it we are going to upgrade her on acoustic and also get her an electric guitar sometime in '05.

It's a classical so it's got nylon on it. I remember my old classical I put steel on them and it just blew. The sound was terrible, I way prefer nylon.
Well, you can also up a neck and top of a classical by putting steel strings on them because they have too much tension.
I tried learning the intro on steel string, but my fingers aren't strong enough to play the notes cleanly that fast. I've seen it done though, it's impressive.
Violin? Want some milk and cookies with that?
What a flamer.
I played piano as a kid (8 years of lessons...)...then picked up the guitar. Which I haven't played in several years now.
At least my kids have picked up the music bug...both are in band in their respective schools (and both quite good too).
I guess I'm the only band geek in here that still plays a wind instrument... I play clarinet every weekend for the church. I can also play sax but I have to whip out the fingering charts when I do since it's been so long and I don't play sax with any regularity.
